    • Spell-like attacks

Is there a way to make a spell, rather than clicking on the target enemy, just shoot out from right in front of you and hurt any enemy it touches?

A similar thing I just thought of to do is to change the character's weapon and have the weapon cast a spell. The only problem with this is just in a real time battle, if you're trying to cast a spell, its a pain to have to hit 2 buttons (one to switch the weapon into your spell, and 2 to use your weapon). So this would work if you could force the character to attack, and then switch it back. Any ideas?

As far as the weapon switching, you either have them carry a weapon in each hand (zelda,ff tactics) or you simply supply cover for the character (either in the form of a time out (event), hcange the enemies l.os. so u can run and chamnge and/or some trees etc.) because frankly that is the point of real time combat...

    • Thanks for the reply but I don't think you quite understand what I'm trying to do. Let me try to explain: I want a spell, that when you cast it, just comes out right in front of you. (What normally happens is you have to click on an enemy for the spell to go off).

The thing about the weapon switching was just an idea on how to do this.

Ok lets say you wanted the button "b" to set off a fireball right in front of you. When you hit "b" It'll set off an event that switches your weapon to a fireball weapon, so that if the player attacks itll be a fireball (which will also drain mp).

This would work but id much rather find a way so if the player hit "b" he would not then need to attack: the fireball would just get set off right away.

If there's a way to force the player to attack please tell me because then i could switch their weapon to a fireball, force them to attack, and then switch back to their real weapon.

Also, if there's any other ideas on how to make the fireball come straight off the character, I'd really love to hear em.

      Thanks

    • Also, would it be possible to make some type of attack like a slide tackle?

      Something to the extent of:
      -you press a button
-character charges forward at double speed like 5 movement squares and hurts anything he touches

    • Ok, so pretty much what you want to do is make an untargetted attack, similar to pressing the attack key "x" with a missile weapon equipped and it just fires in the direction you are facing, and if it hits something great, if it doesn't then it doesn't?

      ------------------
People usually get what's coming to them ... unless it's been mailed.

    • basically yes but the part about the missile weapon equiped is just my idea on how to do it. If there's a way to make a spell or an item do this, I'd much rather have it that way.

But if worst comes to worse I may just make it so its a megaman/zelda idea where you have two different items/abilities/whatever and you choose which ones you want on at once. I'm assuming that I'm missing something ovbious, but how do you make a character have two weapons?
