Dee's post about an upcoming patch that will hopefully be out soon reminded me of a
couple of annoying crashes that Coldstone is plagued with that I mentioned a while back
but never got any info about, and just wanted to remention them in the hopes they have
either been addressed, or can be addressed in the upcoming patch.
First my system is a PowerPC 9600/233 running 432MB ram and OS 8.6.
All of these crashes I believe are related, and I believe it is due to the game engine
looking for a physical picture when the picture data is stored in a data file instead of
in a picture format.
Crash #1: If you go into "Change Map Cell" and select "change cell picture to:" and
then go into the picture data and select a picture that was included in the game(ie,
go into forest base pictures, or crypt objects, etc), after you select the picture and
click "OK" from the "change map cell" screen the game will crash(error message listed
below).
Crash #2: In the map editor when you are using the map drawing tool, if you open up
the pictures window(to select different tiles to place on the map) and you open up one
of the pre-loaded picture files(ie, forest base pictures, or crypt objects) and then
double click on one of the tile icons, the came will crash(error message same as above
and listed below).
The error message I get from these crashes is:
Error code: An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The
application must shutdown.
The error message pops up in a window and when I click ok the application shuts down.
I can restart and continue just fine, sans any changes before the last save.
It would be very very nice to get this crashing fixed. A nice pop-up window saying, "Bad
game builder, don't do that!" and then putting you back to where you were before
comitting this horrific deed.
Anyhow I hope this was noted when I sent it in a while ago and is being worked on or has
been fixed in the patch.
Thanks guys
