ok hi all! being a semi-seasoned ResEdit veteran, i am extremely embarassed to post this. please don't laugh at me (unless you ask me really, really nice). Ok. So i find PoG on a MacAddict disc. I install it. It makes some sort of disc image of the PoG demo. I create a new folder and dump everything from the disc image into the folder so i can write to it. I follow the tutorial down to the letter and run PoG from the new folder with all the PoG demo files in it. It doesn't work. in fact, it doesn't even notice that there is a plug-in. So i spend several hours at school downloading PoG 1.0.1 from the ambrosia site and trash the odd disc image thing. Then i create a new plug following the tutorial word for word. I start it up. it still doesn't even recognize the plugin (it doesn't give me the "select what plug you want to use" box). Am i going nuts or what?

sorry if you don't understand any of that, clarity of explination is not my forte.

I'd imagine you need to register PoG.

hmm, don't think so. you're suposed to be able to use 1 plugin at a time in the unregestered PoG, and the unregestered Coldstone is suposed to be able to create plugins, isn't it. or have i really lost it???

i need sleep...

one other thing i just realized groan... is there no character development screen in the unregestered PoG? i'm always hearing about it in the tutorail but never can exactly find it.

i'm horrible, aren't i?

Are you using the demo or the full version? I don't think the demo can use plugins.

I dl'd the PoG demo and the trinity plugin demo and it all worked out.
as to you're problem, no idea.

mmmh. Be sure that you have PoG 1.0.1, full version (not registered -- just the big 145MB download). Your plugin should obviously be in the "Plugins" folder within a folder for itself. Like:

Pillars of Garendall->Plugins->MyNeat Plugin->Data001.dat (etc.)

An alternative is to get the Ambrosia CD from $10, or $5 if you register PoG.
