"Those 'random battles' are the main focus of Pokémon and Majora's Mask. In Pokémon, the game would be impossible without them because your creatures would be weak from no one to battle but fellow trainers, once they are gone there is no one left to battle except wild Pokémon. As for Majora's Mask, the 72 hours are supposed to be the same every time. That's what makes it different from others. If games like that do not appeal to you, then don't buy them. Personaly, I like the fact that you can go battle the bosses more than once(but the originals were so much cooler).
What's wrong with Anju and Kafei, hmm? That took weeks to figure out. That's what makes a game good; a game that the $50 to $70 you paid for it isn't wasted by beating it the first day you get it, rather it takes a long time to solve.
I really should be posting this stuff on the Zelda topic though..."
---well, first of all, don't pull that "if you don't like it, don't buy it", how about, "if they aren't going to pay attention to what everybody doesn't like, why make the game"...second of all, your point on random battles is completely flawed, because if there wasn't random battles, you're right, they could fight the trainers, and if the game creators did their job right, they could have enough trainers to give you the "experience" you need, correct?
moving on...i feel that random babble can be a good and bad thing from npc's...if there's too much of it, yeah it gets old, and you feel like you're stuck in a rut with a bunch of morons, when you actually want to get on with the game, and to the next cinema ;)...but if you have a perfect amount, it gives it a tad more realism, because like someone said, not everyone is going to know why the wizard of tower x stole the magic crystal :p.
and to elaborate on the random battle discussion...i also feel that random battles can be a good and bad thing...because like chill said, you might get those low level characters, that just seem to waste your time...but on the other hand, maybe you are intentionally fighting those low level characters, to work up your lower level allies...or perhaps you're just killing them for the rewards (gold, supplies whatever), or maybe you just like killing weak things (weirdo). but then again, when i'm trying to get an objective done, and i'm constantly fighting these low level creatures, that i kill with one hit, it gets very, very, very, very (get the point) repetitive.
perhaps they should have an option of "level detection battles" or something.
