    • I'm new here...

I am currently looking for a game engine to make my game in. I read that coldstone will be for the pc in the future. I also read that you will not be giving out a release date at this time but I was just wondering the pc launch wouln't be in like a year... Will it?

    • Welcome to the Webboards!! 😄

One thing to be careful on is that the game builder (the editor) will only be for the mac (or so i've heard) and the engine (the little thingy that lets you play the game) will be for both. (or so i've heard)

Good luck with your game and I would start working on the plot/script for it as early as possible.

I doubt it will be years as it's already in Beta 3 (the third external testing phase if you are unfamiliar with the term) and was mostly designed (actually almost entirely) by Beenox (a fellow company)

      Good Luck and Have Fun!!

I think that Coldstone will run on any PowerPC Mac, so a PPC 6100 or 7100 from a place like www.refurbmadness.com would be your best bet. The 6100 only costs $50.

    • Bare in mind that Coldstone requires a fare bit of RAM to be able to run quickly and smoothly. On my iMac with 64Mb of RAM it runs fine most of the time, but if I have to map windows open or a particularly large map open then I run into some slow down and some crunching. I recommend at least 96MB for the best/cheapest performance.

    • Try a Mac emulator, you can get one at (url="http://"http://www.zophar.net")www.zophar.net(/url)
Or if you want a editor that will work in windows you can try RPGMaker 2000

    • You should be aware that Coldstone games (and probably the editor, too) will require a Power PC Macintosh to run. There are currently no emulators that will emulate the PowerPC chip, not even the earliest one, which has been around for around six years.
