A friend of mine said Ambrosia would release it for windows if they get it bugfree enough? Is that true?

Yes. To put it simply, yes. To explain it in detail, yes.
Coldstone will be available for windows, check out the screen shots, it has a shot of it running on windows.

He stood, paralysed as the beauty of the pattern unfolded under pressure, the hectic chaos forming designs more intricate then the smallest smile.
Don't jump to conclusions. It has been confirmed that coldstone games will run on windows, but just because ASW has a screen shot of the editor running under windows it doesn't mean that they want to take the time to develop it. Last I heard it was a "if we have time" feature.

They HAVE to release it for PCs...
I saw the screenshots and just fell in love!
I'm currently using RPG Maker 2000, but there are so many things that's missing or impossible to do. I've been looking around for a while sor a better engine, and this seems to be the closest fit to perfection so far.
BTW, if it IS true that it's comming for PC, does ANYONE know when/if there will be a Beta?
------------------
Well, the Mac beta is out...I've wondered about a PC beta, but I'm guessing it's not high on the list of priorities.

Madman, I'm not intrested in PLAYING RPGs, I wan't to MAKE them!
After all, there is a reason why I'm using RPG Maker 2000.
Anyway, I can understand why you want to make it for Mac, but the biggest audience IS PC-owners. I'm not saying it won't have good sales if released only for Mac, but it will be WAY bigger if released for PC too...

Yep. Of course, then the population of arses is greatly increased, too. Actually, I imagine that....well no, I think Mac users are smarter. Of course, you are right up there with us.

Well I don't want to start a flame war but;
If the editor gets released for the PC the quality of games will decrease. There will be many more failures and it will give CS a bad name. Games made by us Mac users will be good (I hope) because we are more creative.

No, probably you couldn't cram anymore assumptions in there if you tried.
Anyway, I don't think it will give CS a bad name....let's face it, if a game sucks, no one knows about it.

You've made some assumptions, but, according to MacDesign , you're correct. Their Jan/Feb 2001 issue takes a look at "when it's OK to use a PC for creative work," which explains clearly why creative people are drawn to macs. This was kind of schocking to me because they are extremely pro-Mac.
(BTW, this isn't to instigate a flame-war, but...)
Their categorical breakdown:
*Print Design: Mac all the way ( Adobe Magazine , among others, requires you to get permission if you want to submit a PC file for an ad... ouch!)
*Web Design: Either PC or Mac (the web is platform independant)
*Consumer-Level Digital Video: Mac all the way (they cited a 'real-world' PC Magazine article)
*Professional Digital Video: Mac all the way (even though AVID is owned by intel, the production areas of media giants like CNN, MTV, Disney, Paramount and so on have so many Macs they look like an Apple showroom)
*3D Design: PC (they cite the lack of 3D Studio and Maya on the Mac, but apparently don't realize that those are the people making models of Star Trek ships and Naked Girls).
*Consumer Level Photography: PC (The PC is your gateway to the world of $99 photo editing software)
*Professional Photography: Mac all the way (PC users would feel like an alien at the Professional Photographers of America's annual convention)
and I'm going to add three categories of my own:
*Consumer-Level Audio Production: Mac or PC (ProTools and the major sequencers (Cubase, Logic, etc) run on both platforms. PCs have the edge for less creative types with ACID).
*Sound Design: Both Mac and PC (they both have some rather unique tools no sound designer should be without... MAX/MSP, Metasynth, Supercollider, Soundhack, Thonk, etc on the Mac and Buzz, Audiomulch, FruityLoops and well, Reaktor runs much better on Windoze than on the Mac; Many people I know (and soon myself included) run both platforms to get a full range of tools. Many still swear by their Macs, however...)
*Professional-Level Audio Production: Mac all the way. Vegas Audio and ProTools on the PC simply cannot compete with a Mac dedicated to ProTools. Seriously, there are people who buy a whole 'nother machine and a PCI chassis to go with it because ProTools feels at home on a Mac that is used for nothing else. I've also visited Skywalker Studios and they're an all Mac, all ProTools house for production)
.
Now granted, a lot of people who already write games professionally are PC-oriented, but I doubt Coldstone is being aimed at them. While I am fairly certain there will be a good deal of bad games being made with Coldstone on the Mac, there are a lot of people who are professionals in other creative fields (myself included) who are interested in taking a crack at making a game.
I'm actually going to say the desire for creatives on the Mac to make games has been somewhat repressed since we never get ports of the level editors for First Person Shooters, and the tools we do get turn out some amazing stuff (most Marathon third-party scenarios are much better than any equivalent ever produced for other, more contemporary shooters). If Coldstone is a strong-enough tool, I am guessing it will attract a lot of attention from professional creatives normally outside the gaming community who would like to work on a game. This would raise the quality-to-crap ratio significantly.

People who claim the sky is falling obviously aren't aware the earth is falling, too.
I think I see where this is heading
You people are like racist or something, saying mac users are more creative than pc users. It's like saying africans are smarter than koreans or something. Come on, it's obvious that you're mad Half-Life got cancelled for mac, you're sick of Blizzard and its release dates(which are now improving), and you have had it with promises of multiplayer Baldur's Gate when there is as of yet, nothing. You people have to understand that while you think macs are better than pc's, pc users think just the opposite, and you are outnumbered. Faaaaaaaar outnumbered. I think all those assumptions up there are just about as stupid as it gets. How can you say we are more creative? There is no proof-hence the assumption part-but the fact that you even said just proves my point that everyone here is a zealous mac addict that got stuck with a mac at the age of 11 and didn't have the money to buy a pc once they realized they couldn't quite get Warcraft to work on it. I'm not trying to insult you, you did that yourself.

oh and for that guy asking about PC release dates..
ARE YOU KIDDING?
they haven't announced the MAC release dates yet.
All you are concerned with is when you're gonna be able to make your little game, you don't care for all the other people who were promised this...
ok and also I'd like to address the topic of how it would be corrupted if ported to PC, I hope that whoever put that up there realized why it would be corrupted. No, not because pc users are less creative, but because they have higher standards.
Think on that.
Think about what we hope for.
What mac users hope for is what pc users grew tired of------2 years ago.
Alas, what can I do.
I am a mac and a pc user.
