    • Confusion...

At beenox.com it talks about coldstone and its features.
Well they said something about designed for teamwork, and something about LAN.
I'm guessing this strictly means in making the game, not playing it. Am I right?
I read the FAQ and it said it wasn't networkable, last time I checked.. but.....

      ------------------
Kirin- A half deer/half dragon that plagued the lands of ancient Japan. It is said that Kirins are responsible for more deaths than any other deer. Recently Kirins are not very common however...

    • Really? That's cool. I didn't know about this.

I would assume it's for development. Large projects can be difficult to manage unless you have tools to help with that. When you factor in several people working on that project, and it can get out of hand really quickly ( You try laying out a 600 page document with four other people, it's a nightmare due to lack of proper management tools). What this probably means is that the Coldstone App will be able to have a common base for the resources required to make your game, and perhaps "check in/check out" locking and revision control. This type of thing would more easily facilitate the creation of a game by a team... and since Beenox is working on a game of their own, they no doubt understand this and therefore put the appropriate features into their app.

My theory behind why your actual GAME won't be networkable is not that implementing code would be difficult, but implementing the logistics behind that code would be extremely difficult.

    • How many RPGs are actually networkable? very few.

    • Actually, I'm guessing Beenox's website is a bit behind the times. 🙂

That is hilarious. Baldur's Gate, Asheron's Call, Diablo 1&2, Everquest, Ultima Online, Nox, the list goes on and on.. I mean that has got to be the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Well no. Sorry about that, because most of the smaller RPG's that are very good, even though many people don't know it aren't networkable, and maybe that's all you've been exposed to?

    • Well, considering that a large large portion of RPGs are console games I was correct in my statement that very few games are networkable when compared to the amount that aren't.

    • and most networked RPG aren't very fun. Like Diablo. I'd hardly call that an RPG. more like a action game. And in games like NOX the network capability is too limited. Who would like to play Diablo 2 if everyone was level 99. Stone of Jordan etc.. were all over of the place and all the skill levels of everyone were set to 20.

of course theres the quest mode but IMO it sucks.

If you've ever played clan lord, you'd know what early online RPGs were like, you didn't do much, just develop your charicter, and you have to pay to use it (And they charge by the month! and the number of charicters you keep. I stoped playing long ago you can probably guess)

Anyway, it would be nice to have a game like that, but with more of a point besides just walking around (It's more like a RP/Chat than an actual game) Maybe something that was scaled back, and was not online 24 hours a day, something where ppl could host their own games mb on (url="http://"http://www.gameranger.com")gameranger(/url)
