Well, my problem with jrsh92 was that he hadn't shown up yet. That is now resolved.
My vote against jrsh92 is retracted.

As for who to go for next, I was looking at JacaByte or GutlessWonder for a while:

      @jacabyte, on Jan 1 2009, 03:07 PM, said in GTW Game 33:

Hmm, I'm a bit reluctant to bandwagon against jrsh92 with Eugene Chin because it'll bring hot water down on both of us if my action is interpreted incorrectly, and I don't see anybody else who'd make a good target, so I'll wait a bit and see if somebody slips. We have until tomorrow to finish voting, right mrxak?

JacaByte's stated desire about not wanting to seem like bandwagoning raised my attention,
      - but it could just be trying to avoid getting lynched for no reason.
His stance against random voting could be a dictator trying to drum up support against an easy target,
      - but with JacaByte it could just as easily be a genuine desire to see a better quality of voters.
The fact JacaByyte says he's looking for somebody to slip and make himself a good target could just be poor judgment.
      - After all, it's the dictators who should be looking for the most easily lynched targets.

Likewise, GutlessWonder jumping on Mack could be self-defense., as he says it is.
The fact that it comes when Mack already has a vote against him could be a coincidence.
      - Or, it could be a dictator protecting against a lucky shot.

The fact that he'd been tilting against JacaByte for posting without voting earlier also puts him in the crosshairs.

Between JacaByte and Gutless, I'm going to say JacaByte for now.
It's the combination of sensitivity to being seen as bandwagoning, and looking for easy targets.

I'll admit it's a bit of a hunch, but can't ignore a hunch like that.

    • Eugene Chin, I agree with your logic, but not your conclusions. Personally, I find Gutless Wonder's actions the more suspicious of the two, especially as it raised Mackilroy to the one that was going to be lynched.

Yes, I realize this causes a three way tie. I'm sorry.

    • I certainly don't want Mack to die. Since we're tied anyways, I'll retract my vote for him as well, and change it to JacaByte , in an effort to ensure I don't die.

    • Since it looks like I'm going to die anyhow, and because, due to personal matters, I can't give as much attention to this game as I should in order to be a good player, I'm going to change my vote to JacaByte because currently I'm only serving to muck up this whole deal more than any terrorist could, which is exactly what they want. Only my death can prove my innocence at this point.

    • These are the votes:

      Eugene Chin - JacaByte
      Gutless Wonder - JacaByte
      JacaByte - JacaByte
      jrsh92 - Eugene Chin
      kickme - JacaByte
      lobf - jrsh92
      Mackilroy - GutlessWonder
      Templar98921 - GutlessWonder

_"Good, I see all the votes have been recorded," mrxak began. "You have selected JacaByte, an interesting choice. Especially for you, JacaByte, since you could have tied and deadlocked the game by voting for GutlessWonder to save yourself. Very well, the guards will now take him into custody. You'll be under house arrest in your quarters until the conclusion of the wargame."

Two guards came into the room and escorted JacaByte away, who went quietly, perhaps out of embarrassment for being the first to "die".

"Well now, it's time for me to open the envelope, and see who the rogue members have decided to eliminate." mrxak pulled out a slip of paper and read it carefully. He smiled, and looked back over the table. His eyes rested on Eugene Chin, who's shoulders slumped immediately. "Yes, Eugene, it seems the rogue members have once again decided you were their biggest threat. You've been killed in an accident involving the elevator to your quarters. Apparently a small explosive device severed the main cable and the emergency cables. You died on impact with the lowest sublevel. The guards will take you into house arrest as well."

Eugene Chin sighed heavily and went off with the guards.

"Well then, the next round begins immediately. As you can see the big board has been updated with the new list of players. This round ends in 48 hours."_

As a side-note, I never recieved a PM from the intelligence agent. If that person could please contact me ASAP so I know they got their role PM, I would appreciate it.

    • erk Bleah...

    • Well, between the even and small number of players, and the I.A.'s apparent inability to make a decision, I'd say this game is already over.

    • Also given one of the players is new (lobf), and I'm not wonderfully good. (On a sidenote: Damn. There goes my Eugene is a terrorist theory.)

So I'm going to start by poking jrsh92 for not turning up much and the worrying use of "a more deserving candidate."

    • This round is almost half over, and only one person has voted.

If you guys kill another innocent, the game is over.

Seriously, can I command somebody's vote for them if they don't show up?

    • Right now, going on gut feeling and looking at the votes the first round, Mackilroy

    • @templar98921, on Jan 2 2009, 11:58 PM, said in GTW Game 33:

for not turning up much and the worrying use of "a more deserving candidate."

I don't get why this is so suspicious when i was only saying what I felt made sense in the situation, Templar98921.

    • Self-defense vote (my vote last round really was random, Gutless): GutlessWonder.

    • Templar - jrsh92
      GutlessWonder - Mackilroy
      jrsh92 - Templar 98921
      Mackilroy - GutlessWonder

There's about 11 and a half hours left.

    • sigh And all the votes are against the people who voted for them.

jrsh92: Sorry. It was a partially failed attempt to stir up some activity. My vote for you is retracted.

So, I now vote for Gutless , as I fail to see any of Mackilroy's guilt.

    • These are the votes:

      GutlessWonder - Mackilroy
      jrsh92 - Templar98921
      Mackilroy - GutlessWonder
      Templar98921 - GutlessWonder
      lobf - lobf
      kickme - kickme

_"Well, as usual, forgetting to vote defaults to voting for yourself. Another such forgetting will get you removed from the Triple P, I remind you, lobf and kickme," mrxak said at the podium. "But, this round was not affected by your negligence, so the results stand as you see on the board. GutlessWonder, you will be taken under house arrest so you do not influence the wargames while 'dead' and strangely enough the rogue members did not provide me with an envelope with their kill written in it for this round, so it seems we've all dodged a bullet here.

"I do have one further bit of news, which some of you may have heard about already. It seems that Eugene Chin, ironically enough, did have a bit of an elevator accident on his way to house arrest. I'm quite certain it was an accident, although the coincidence is uncanny. Metal fatigue, the maintenance crews tell me. Snapped all of the cables, even the emergency ones. His body is in the bunker morgue along with the two guards with him on the elevator if you wish to pay your respects. Once the wargames are over I'm sure there will be a service. This is not the news, however. I'm sorry to report that it seems that JacaByte is dead as well. A guard bringing him his breakfast this morning found him with his wrists cut in his bathtub. He left a note, it seems to have been hastily written. I never saw it but apparently he was quite depressed. Getting voted out in the first round of the wargames and the isolation that came with it apparently was the last straw, and he took his own life. Two deaths in such a short period of time, very tragic.

"The good news is, of course, that the intelligence agent has contacted me, and I've provided the requested information. The 33rd Annual Wargames is far from over. Please begin your deliberations immediately. This round will be over at the usual time two days from now."_

    • At least we have a chance, with the IA still alive...

Gutless, I'm sorry, I didn't think Templar would choose you. I should've changed my vote before last night and didn't think about it.

    • Well, that's interesting.

Hmm...That means the next obvious target is of course myself.

However, kickme and lobf's absence relates to the terrorists not picking a target, though of course it is not evidence enough in of itself.

      So, let's see:

      Mackilroy:
No obvious evidence of terrorism, but it is possible that he deliberately didn't change his vote. This suspicion is because he mentioned it, something which he should have no qualms about.

EDIT: Wait, how does Mack know the IA is still alive? The game rules explicitly state that if the terrorists kill the IA, we won't know who it was. Eugene Chin could have been the IA. This, does, in fact, lead me to believe you have one of special roles.

      jrsh92:
Nothing particularly guilty about him either. Except of course, all his votes have been in self-defence, and he has made no exposition, therefore hindering the innocents.

      lobf:
Has made one post. And didn't edit it to show his vote. This lack of activity could mean he's one of the terrorists, as there was no attack last round. However, this means his partner was also away, or they both sent PMs too late. Also, had lobf been making the votes, there would have been no vote last round either, barring a really early vote or some sort of vote-sharing scheme.

      Kickme:
All the logic that can be applied to lobf can be applied to kickme.

In short I have no idea who to vote for. Hopefully this helps some other innocents.

    • Templar : I don't know for sure if the IA is alive, I'm just guessing because mrxak said the IA contacted him and said he'd gotten a PM. For all I know he died after that, your guess is as good as mine.

    • Oh.

That's a very good point. facepalm

    • Well, lobf and Kickme seem to be the most likely suspects as Templar suggests due to their inactivity which they've been getting away with, a common terrorist tactic-- not to mention, with no activity and no kills by the terrorists, it fits that they were the ones responsible for the kills but failed to fulfill that responsibility. Kickme used to host a bitchin' LOGD server so my vote goes to lobf for being tied for most likely terrorist and not having anything making him favorable to keep alive.
