    • Because it's the first round and none of us know anything. Reading wolf behaviour into anyone in the first round is ridiculous, to be honest.

Gutless has first strike capabilities! The Nautilus is at your shores! Prepare for a nuclear winter! But you're right Gutless, I was gonna target you next. Then LNSU. Unless of course it can be proven yall are not the terrorists. darth_vader would be the last person. I won't go through all them unless you want me to. mrxak wouldn't be too far behind.

      I vote EKHawkman in self-defence.

Darth, I've got nothing against you.

    • _"Ladies and Gentlemen, if I may have your attention please.

It would appear that you have reached a consensus, as follows:

Guards, will you please escort EKHawkman to the interrogation room."

With that, four MPs sweep into the room, weapons at the ready. They surround EKHawkman, and escort him out._

      -----

Traitors and other specials, please PM me at your earliest convenience. EKHawkman, if you would like to make a statement, please do so before the beginning of the next round. Once they next round begins, any statement you make in this thread will be deleted. Everyone else, we have entered the inactive phase. Please refrain from posting until the next round starts.

    • I'm telling you, You got the wrong guy! Yall are all doomed now DOOMED!!!!

P.S.Get Gutless! The Wonder menace is coming after you!

P.P.S.I wish I died in a sort of nuclear holocaust....... Terrorists NUKE ME!

    • _"Ladies and Gentlemen, if you would please gather round, I have some unfortunate news... Is everyone here? Excuse me, but has anyone seen kickme? Does anyone know where he is?"

An MP runs into the room. "Sir, we have just found a body in the men's room! We think it is kickme's!"

With that, the representatives quickly file into the security room to review the recordings from the surveillance cameras. It does not take very long to find out what happened. A man in had delivered a package to kickme in his quarters -- his face can not be seen on the tape. kickme opened the package to find an extremely ornate and expensive cuckoo clock. He set it up on the wall -- setting it to the correct time and winding it up. Five minutes later, when the clock struck one, the cuckoo appeared from its door and released some kind of gas.

Seconds later, two men dressed in security uniforms rushed into the room and carried kickme away. They can be seen on other feeds carrying him to the bathroom as though he were sick or drunk. In the bathroom, they take him into a stall. For several minutes nothing happens, then a pool of blood and guts forms on the floor, and the two men leave.

      The representatives look ashen.

"Well, it would seem that kickme is dead. But that is not the worst of it. I have received word that several nuclear detonations have occurred throughout the world. Most of them were in the 100-200 kiloton range, and civilian casualties have not been as bad as conceivably possible, but many of the world's oil refineries have been obliterated, and the death toll is likely in the tens of thousands.

"There are clearly still traitors among us, and they must be found. Also, kickme is dead, which means that Eugene Chin is next in line as the secretary general. Mr. Chin, I leave this body in your capable hands."_

      -----

To summarize, EKHawkman has been taken away for interrogation (he will be playing no further role in this game), kickme is dead (he, also, will be playing no further role in this game), and Eugene Chin now has the tie-breaking vote.

We are now in round 2. This round will last for at least the next 36 hours. Please vote before 6:00 AM PDT on 9 May 2008 (1:00 PM GMT on 9 May 2008). I am going to try and end the round on-time, this time around.

    • So, what's the verdict on EKHawkman? Innocent? Terrorist? Special abilities?

    • da rules said:

Roles will not be revealed upon death. If a person claims to have a particular power or role, I shall neither confirm nor deny that power until the game is over.

    • Quote

      • Three Traitors: I think you all know how these guys work. During the inactive phase, they have the ability to kill one innocent. Their goal is to kill all of the innocents.
      • One Intelligence Agent: The intelligence agent is extremely well connected, and has vast intelligence resources at his finger tips. During each inactive phase, he consults with his sources, and investigates one other representative. At the end of the inactive phase, he learns the role of that representative.
      • One Well Protected Diplomat. The well protected diplomat has a contingent of bodyguards with him. During each inactive phase, he can choose to sent those bodyguards out to covertly protect any representative (including himself). If that representative is targeted for death that round, they will be protected.
      • One Secretary General. The secretary general leads the UN, and has the ability to break ties. His vote counts for one and a half votes during the active phase. --This is an experimental role, designed to prevent ties at the end of the day. As everyone will know, up front, who the secretary general is, he may be either innocent or traitor. If the secretary general is arrested or killed, a new one will be chosen at random. If the role doesn't work out well, it will not be used by me in the future. You have been warned.--

Kickme was the Secretary General, but since he was picked at random he could have also had any other role except Traitor. I think neither Kickme nor EKHawkman was the protected diplomat, as they usually protect themselves at the beginning of the game. It's possible that either of them was the IA. That would be unfortunate. If the real IA is still alive and investigates an innocent person, I encourage him to PM that person and join forces if possible, unless xander specifically discourages that behavior. Odds are both people were just innocent.

    • Actually, DV, if you read those rules again you'll learn that the S.G. can , in fact, be a traitor:

      Quote

As everyone will know, up front, who the secretary general is, he may be either innocent or traitor.

I've been trying to figure out why kickme was killed by the traitors, and I can't find anything that would link him to a possible enemy of his. The only vote on him was his own, because he abstained the entire first round. He didn't do much as far as I can tell. Maybe it was because he was a secretary general and the traitors wanted rid of him?

    • The traitors couldn't have known who the innocents and special roles were any better than we could know who the innocents and terrorists were during the first round. I suspect, since even if kickme was an IA they couldn't have known, that it must have been "kill one of the innocents, and why not the sec. general?"

    • Well, now we know that the secretary general was innocent because he got killed by the traitors, but we know that much for anybody killed by the traitors, no?

    • @jacabyte, on May 7 2008, 10:18 PM, said in xander's Global Thermonuclear War:

That was my point. I know the SG could end up being a traitor, but since kickme was killed by the traitors he couldn't have been.

    • I vote for Templar98921 again, same reason. His vote was definitely a bandwagon too, so there's that.

    • Hehe, so saw that coming.

    • To be honest, if it hadn't been for the dictators killing you, I'd have wanted to vote you out myself just to see what would happen.

    • Hypochondriac because I believe in following my first hunch.

    • mrxak, you can just say Templar... It's not like there's anyone else called Templar.

And those numbers have sentimental value.

Anyway, I agree with jrsh12 and vote prophile (retracted).

Not true! There actually is someone else called Templar. He's made 3 posts, total, ever since his account's inception (5 years ago).

But we'll call you Templar anyway.

    • Well. I'm in a strange position now.

I vaguely suspect that the terrorists are trying to force the Secretary General power into the hands of one of their own, in the absence of any other major issues in the early game.

While not a major power, since it is a role that could fall into their hands, and since there are few pressures against them in the early game, it makes sense for them to try and obtain it (by continuously killing whoever holds it), at least until something more pressing comes along.

Seeing that I have inherited the role from kickme makes me suspect that I could be next on the death parade.

So, while I'm still here, I'm going to say, if the terrorists keep killing Sec.Gen's, and if they should then suddenly stop dying, take a nice hard look at the one it stopped on.

My primary hope in this statement is to discourage the above hypothetical behavior (And thus my own night-killing) by 'Spoiling the milk,' making the prospect of one of their members holding the SecGen power for too long an un desirable situation.

    • Nah, thats too suspicious. Whoever it stops on will probably get lynched, and I don't think that reasonable grounds for suspiscion.

EDIT: That 'too' has two to's. I mean o's!
