- Please test and proofread the files you're submitting
Keep in mind that thousands of people may be downloading and using the files you submit here. Try to present yourself as best you can by testing your submission on a number of machines, proof-reading any text, and perhaps having others do a sanity-check on it before you submit it. It's far easier to catch mistakes ahead of time than to try to correct them after the fact.
- Compress your files with Stuffit or Compact Pro before submitting
You must use a program such as StuffIt or Compact Pro to compress your files before you can submit them. Files compressed with StuffIt should be suffixed with .sit, files compressed with Compact Pro should be suffixed with .cpt, and self-extracting archives created by either program should be suffixed with .sea.
- Use MacBinary or HQX encoding on your files before submitting them
After you've compressed your files as outlined above, please encode them using a program like MacBinary or BinHex (StuffIt and other products can also HQX-encode files) before you submit them. This will allow others to download and decompress your files more easily and reduce the risk of the archives being corrupted in transit. MacBinary-encoded files should be suffixed with .bin, HQX-encoded files should be suffixed with .hqx.
- Enter a good name and description for your submission
Try to give your submission an appropriate name (eg MyCoolPlugin.sit.bin -- avoid the use of spaces, quotes, apostrophes, and other non-alphanumeric characters), and a description that is verbose enough to give people a good idea what the file is about, but also succinct enough that people will be able to read it quickly and easily. Including a version number and/or release date, as well as the author's name in the description is helpful, too.
