d'oh
I have a confession to make here - when I said I would host last weekend, I had completely forgotten that it was my mother's birthday on Sunday. (Yes - bad, wicked, naughty Crono, etc etc)
Worse, my parents have just phoned me up to invite me round for lunch tomorrow. Aargh! Obviously I couldn't say "no, sorry, I am hosting a pop-pop tournament" so I tried to push it back a little. Bought myself until about 1:30pm, which is not very much, especially looking at the fact that there are 8 people signed up so far.
So if it does take longer, and I have to jump ship half-way through, is anyone else prepared to take over as host?

I think I would be able to take over and if I am not there for any reason I would suggest good old Mr. Shoes

You are right. There is no obligatory upfront sign up to play a tourney. But for the first round we use the tourney system and therefore you have to be registered and signed up for the tourney. After the status of the tourney has been set to "in progress" and the games start, only the host(s) are able to sign further people in. Everything regarding the sign up is handled very relaxed IMHO...
BTW the sign up procedure has the advantage that you can vaguely see upfront how many people will take part. Currently e.g. 11 Player are signed in, which is quite a lot
Especially @Crono but of course @all: If we have 12 players or more later I would suggest to split the first round into two groups of six players each and let the first two players of each group advance to the next round.
In this case we could just create a second tourney on the system and distribute the players on these two groups. Each player will be able to see whom she/he has to play against by clicking on the report result function of the group the player is in...
