    • Tournament Results!

      8 13 220

Congratulations to our tournament champion Shoes! He defeated Crono 3-2, but they also played 7:58 match! Great Game!

The end results of the tournament were:
      #1 Shoes The Pop-Pop Champion
      #2 Crono
      #3 Lumisa
      #4 Hyko

I'll just start off saying this tournament was alot of fun to organize and pull-off. It wasn't without hitches. (I'm not registered yet, because I'm dumb so I couldn't make a tournament game)

Despite all this the players were all very nice and in good spirits. The tournament lasted for two hours and fifteen minutes and there were a total of eight players.

Here are the results round by round:

      Quote

      Round 1:

      #1 Lumisa 6-1
#2 Shoes 6-1 (lost to Lumisa)

      #5 Squibix 3-4
      #6 TexasGrl 2-5
      #7 LISH 1-6
      #8 MSX 0-7

At the end of this round the #1 seed played the #4 seed, and the #2 seed played the #3 seed.

    • Thanks, I corrected that in my post. If you'd register then you could edit your posts too. And we could put Pop Champion under your name if you won. 🙂

I better not say much because I am feeling very big headed!
It was a great tournament, a lot of fun -and nerves! The game between me and Crono at the end was very tense. The 7:58 min game that he won to make it 2-2 was unbelievable! Apologies to everyone waiting in the lounge!

Thanks to Number279 for doing a great job with the scores. It was funny at the beginning when no one could see you on the tracker because of the big DEMO in front of your name and no one knew whether we should start. 🙂

      Thanks everyone, well played.

Oh -and commiserations to Lumisa who beat me 7 times today! 🙂

It's no problem. I just hope everyone enjoyed the tournament. The more people I can get playing Pop-Pop the more fun it will be for me and the people who already play.

The tournament was loads of fun with 8 people and I think it will be even better if we can get more people, which I am confident we can do. Info about the next tournament should be up tomorrow.

If any of the people who played have any suggestions or comments about the set-up, please e-mail me so I can try to adjust accordingly.

    • Dear 279! Thanks for organising this tournament. I think Ambrosia should donate you a pop-pop license for special services to make this game more popular!

Congrats to my old pop-pop companion SHOES for winning the tourney.
Congrats to Crono for three times close to 8 min. rounds (the one with me 7:55)
And Congrats to my Blindfisch Lumisa for winning the first round and inofficially the tourney.

And of course thanks to all other competitors: Texas Girl, msxgamesbox, Squibix and last but not least LISH.

I hope the next time also mikrisa will join and much more other people too. It's fun and a persuasive reason to register!

      Hyko

P.S. and thanks to three (or more) bottles of beck's for letting me write this posting 🙂

Whoops! My bad. I edited the post so that you take your rightful place at number 7. I hope you enjoyed the tournament, and I look forward to seeing you next week. 🙂

    • Even though I got wrecked (esp by SHOES and Hyko: 0-3 both!) I had alot of fun in the first tournament I managed to enter. Thanks to everyone involved, esp Number279 for setting it up. I trust we'll see him playing next time!

But I also want to recognize the work that msxgames put into the tournaments he organized previously; I wonder if there's any way for msx and Number to combine their efforts? msx already has the tournament website set up, and it would be a shame for that work to go to waste. (I also appreciate him posting the score differentials, since I came out 11-11; and that looks a little better than 3-4! :D) And also I can't help but ask, here as well, if there's any interest in my ever-lasting tournament idea described below? As I imagine it it wouldn't be an obstacle to holding regular real tournaments as well... but I'll stop now. 😄

Again, thanks for a fun tournament; and I can't wait for the next one when maybe I'll do a little better!

I agree. Msxgamesbox has been a good supporter of tournaments for some time. It would be a shame for his efforts to go to waste. Combining their efforts is a good idea. It's up to them I suppose.

      Pah! 🙂

    • Crono has won the random drawing from a list of all those who participated in the tournament. Now maybe we can get him to become a member of the web boards 🙂

    • I most gladly would like to share the site and the organisation of tournaments, but I have very busy months ahead until May time I estimate:

      1. I'm on business travel all weekdays until mid-April
      2. I have to move home by the end of April (implying lots before and after the move)

Anyhow, if you don't see me often lately, no worries, you'll sure see me around later this year. As for organising tournaments myself in the upcoming months, you will have understood I have little time.

But if anybody wants to host on his own server the pages and have them updated with new tournaments, I can send them through (or just download all pages & graphics).
