No, escape means the same thing as the home button: go back all the way to the main menu.

Here are my feature suggestions:
- Easier to use chat, and lobby chat. I don't like the current system, with the return key and the window that always comes up.
- Character recordings should be louder and angrier.
- "Bombastic" should be renamed to "Mr. Bombastic".
- There should be an auto-taunt feature.
- Like Tetris Attack and some other games, the characters should be somewhere in the middle, and they should fight eachother according to how the game is played. For example, if I'm playing as Mr. Bombastic, and I'm playing Tex, and I send over 20 bricks, I want Mr. Bombastic to punch Tex, or laugh or something, then Tex to act like he is hurt.
- Multi-ball powerup!
- Laser powerup!
- Moving bricks!
- Two-on-two network combat! OR, a four person deathmatch!
- Paddle-ball powerup; ball is attached to the paddle with a string, and moves normally, but bounces super-fast and can be used to clear out some space. Really useful for when there are an assload of bricks coming down on you.
- Shots from Tex's gun should also shorten the other person's paddle.
- There should be a powerup that temporarily makes the weapon charge-up happen instantaneously.
That is all I can think of right now.

If people think my attacks are bad, imagine 5 bomb attacks all happening in a row (and 1 second between each attack!)

I'm kind of torn on the chat issue... lobby chat would be nice on the one hand (for people used to battle.net and bungie.net), but I can't see how it would add that much to the game. There seems to be a community building around this board anyway, and I think that's a fine alternative.
One simple feature I'd like to see is an option for selecting a random pop when you start a game... it'd fit on the screen (on the row next to Zap) and would add a little extra fun surprise to games if you wanted to use it.
I'm content with pop-pop gameplay as it is, though. It's already very nice and doesn't need any additional complexity or wacko powerups.

Kudos to being a Tetris Attack fan, we're few and far between, but your suggestion just screams Burning Monkey Puzzle Lab.
