another tip to add, i find this really helpful.
the key to spamming with special and pulling the special off:
first off, you need bricks, and a lot of them. save bricks up until your about half way up the screen.
people often hit the ball really hard and it comes flying back at them before they can even get the charge 1/3 the way up. to pull it off safley and easily, clear a special path of bricks, make it pretty far up so you have a lot of time to charge, but not all the way, you want dont want to be waiting for it to come back forever. you want the ball to hit the paddle about 1 second after the charge is done. keep repeating the process quickly. but be aware of the bricks, as you spam, you get caught up in spamming and often lose track of where the other bricks are that you havent cleared, and lose by getting to caught up in it.
ive had people even ask me how i spam them so fast, it works well, but its difficult to keep track where the bricks are.
