    • Shockwave Command

Before I say this, please note: this does not take preference over M:Inv in any way, shape, or form.
      Thank you.

Now, some people here may have played it, some people may not have, but there is an older game called "Shockwave Assault." It's not the greatest in area, but it's a fun, with the relatively simple plot of blowing up aliens who are attacking Earth.

Now, unfortunately, it lacks anything other than this plot, and once you've beaten the game, there isn't much left. However, they give you a lot of information.

Now, what I was thinking is that this system is compatible with Ares, in a certain sense. There is a large command ship, the Omaha, that carries 8 of the fighters you fly. They also tell you the names of the pilots. Now, it's possible to have the fighters deploy at the start of the level with actual pilots to give an individual feel to the game.

Also, aiming is mostly left and right - there's a bit of up and down but you're only allowed to move those ways if there's a hill in front of you. Essentially, nothing would be lost in the translation to Ares.

Also, you could use races of 1000 for Human, 2000 for Alien, then use 3000-10000 for the various fighter pilots, meaning that in multiplayer you would be able to fly an individual pilot.

Now, there are a number of little "tweaks" in Hera I know of that can make the game more true to the original (esp. Ground Units)

We miht replay the Invasion Earth and Operation Jumpgate plotlines, or invent a new one, but I'm sure however it was done, it'd be quite interesting.

    • Has anyone on the Boards played it? If you're looking for some cheap fun, it is a pretty good game, so far as the missions go.

    • A link that you could post, maybe?

Im always looking for some arcade fun...(try spaceway 2000, its COOL)

      1. It's commercial - but I did a search and it turns out it's actually out for Playstation as well, and vastly upgraded (or so they say)
        I think there's a demo at (url="http://"http://www.electricgames.com/cat-mac-sim.html")http://www.electricg...at-mac-sim.html(/url) , not sure.

      2. I have Spaceway 2000, and I don't really like it.

How can you possibly not like it? Fast gameplay, cool graphics, and inventive baddies... 🙂

    • I don't really know precisely why, but I'd rather be playing something else...

One interesting idea I had was that, according to my first statement, this has lesser preference to M:Inv. I'd like to do a little for this, so I guess I'll have to force myself to do more work on M:Inv...
