    • STEVO is looking good [old topic]

I checked out the star trek escape velocity web site and the ships are really looking good, you should post some of them on the gallery.

I wish i could make graphics like that, but i'm a pencil and paper artist. Maybe i'll post some of my drawings...

Anyway guys visit the stevo website, and check them out. I think it is (url="http://"http://www.stevo.com")www.stevo.com(/url) but i'm not sure about that.

      check it out.

    • Awesome Plug!

    • I just downloaded it and...and...wow. That is the most awsome potential plug I have ever seen! (It's far from complete). I look at the plug I'm making and I see just how pitiful it looks in comparison :frown:

Thanks, but I'm not sure that Star Trek graphics are really approiate on a EV picture board. Granted, it is a plugin for EV/EVO but there are lots of Star Trek pictures on the internet and Star Trek itself isn't very original.

Check the plugin I have on the EV webpage to see how pitiful I was when I first started:

and laugh! Laugh hard!!! Time, experimentation, and experience will hieghten your skills. Just don't take too much time. STEV/O has been in production since late '96!!!

    • Why is the plug in the form of the data files? Why cant you just stick it in your plugin folder and play? Also, I cant open the plugin with EV-Edit, Mission Control, Shipwrite, or Res-Edit. I was attempting to give the borg a Turreted Beam and a Turreted Tractor Beam as with the Federation, and make the borg phaser a little less powerful.

It uses significantly less RAM that way. If you want to edit the files, just change the type/creator id's to that of a normal plugins and BOOM, STEV in plugin format that the editors can read.

    • Again, sorry to bump an old topic, but I would LOVE to grab the last released version of this. Does anyone still have it?

    • i think this cualifies as the century's biggest gravedig.

    • every URL I click on regarding STEVO is not valid....

also, OOC, are you allowed to have images in your sig?

    • Signature pictures are not allowed, this should have been a new topic, and this also should be getting a lock sometime soon...

GodzFire, you had better change that signature of yours before you get in major trouble with the authorities... I mean, moderators...

As for STEVO, I'm itching to know what it is. Unfortunately, all the links don't work.

    • Hey, wowwee! I gleaned a link out of all those URLs that pointed simply to "http:///" as a result of a board makeover in late 2006. It's not much, and I don't have time to figure out if you can actually download anything from there.

Wow, someone's got a bug up his butt

Nice way to treat a new person to the forums

      <freak out>

Calm down, it happens to all new people. I'm just telling you what you should have done. Around here, you'll find even less tolerance for gravedigging than what I gave you. And the picture needs to go, generally the administrators get very mad very quickly. Just trying to help ya out.

EDIT: Oh, and you're only one year newer than me.

    • Frankly, that response was hardly unwarranted. Since you're new you can't know all the etiquette for this forum, but still common sense should dictate that if a topic has not been posted on for nearly 7 and a half years, it's officially dead and not to be resurrected. If you want to discuss it, make a new topic and link it to the dead one.

Getting defensive (and insulting) when corrected will make you neither welcome nor respected here. If not willing to show respect for the other forum users and display some common sense and courtesy, you're not going to last long. And frankly, I don't think anybody will care.

If you are though, well, welcome to the forums.

{edit} Seriously though, get rid of the pict in your signature. It's been 8 hours since you posted that response and it's still there.

    • It's been a long time since I heard anything about STEV, later STEVO. Certainly it was never finished; like so many plug-ins, they got a great deal of work done on ships, sprites, and systems, but burnt out once it was time for storylines.

I'd also like to remind people that they should check whether or not a rule exists before they complain about someone breaking it. The one against signature images does (although it would be better if they could simply modify the software to make them impossible), but the one about so-called 'grave-digging' does not, and the raising of this topic seems to me a quite appropriate way to ask this question.

    • I mostly agree with what both of you guys (DA and Archon) said, but sort of along a "middle ground" between you two:

@Archon: Yes, 7.5 years is a long time, but on some forums, gravedigging is considered better than posting a new topic on the same subject. Don't ask me why, as I think it makes no sense, maybe for organization's sake or something. And there is no rule about gravedigging.

@David Arthur: I didn't say that he was breaking a rule by gravedigging, I said, "This should have been a new topic." 7.5 years is the biggest gravedig I've seen. I was trying not to get nasty on him, seeing as all of my gravedigs combined probably add up to more than this one, but for new people, it's something that has to be discussed. Just like somebody has to say "Welcome to our boards." It's sort of an unwritten policy, much like gravedigging.

    • You know, I didn't just underline the word "link" in my last post for the fun of it. <_<
