Maybe something like "Trinity II" with more character classes. I wanna see a necromancess! A: necromancy is cool no matter how one looks at it, B: PoG needs a female player. And I agree with LabRat, it needs thief stuff.

More of a guild/character-specific area for the ranger. I'd like something like a lodge or similar. The Swordsmen get the Arena and the book-quest and the goblin-capturing, the Conjurors get the crazy puzzles and all the spells and whatever else, the Rangers get a couple of shops. Does no one else find this completely inadequate?

Combination items like the ones in Heroes of Might + Magic or Diablo II's sets. That would be cool, as in my opinion items never give sufficient bonuses.

Plug-in ideas...
The Dark Druid - Emelius, when we left him, was battling with the evil ring; and losing. I'd like to see him turn to the dark side and go nuts.
Possibly storylines:
He poisons the learning tree and the character has to enter and fight his way to the top to deal with the tainted Druid.
He kills the tree and chops it down. Nothing but a stump left. Character then has to go on a quest to find a seed which will grow a new learning tree.
Emelius taints the lands around the learning tree. Character has to find out how to undo the damage as well as figuring out what to do with the druid(can he be healed or must he be killed?).
Thieves Revenge - With Mesera's death the bands of thieves are in disorder. However, they have a common interest: defeating the hero! Thus a new thief lord takes control and unites all of the clans together against the hero.
Possible storylines:
Thieves decide to set the player up by staging raids on different towns and then attempting to kill him. So the player continually gets word that a group of thieves are pillaging a town and when he gets there he is ambushed. After doing this at a couple of different towns the player catches a thief alive who spills the beans. The player then has to track down, through a series of clues, where the thieves are residing and put an end to it.
Similar set up, but player has to infiltrate the thieves through some sort of disguise, as there is information he must learn(so he can't just waltz in and kill them all outright). Possibly the player even has to carry out some thieving/raiding missions to prove himself while he works his way into the trust of the thieving bands. Then, when he has what he needs, the player can clean house.
A Kingdom in Turmoil - With Garendall in turmoil due to the sea giants and Gidolan Keep being isolated, the time is ripe for a neighboring kingdom to gobble some land.
Possible storyline:

But what about the people who didn't kill Meresa- like me? Maybe the new boss pops up anyway, but you have the help of Meresa. That would make it complicated-- two different storylines.
These are neat ideas! It would be neat to combine several into a very cool plugin. When my summer comes (in two weeks), I'll look at Coldstone again.
------------------
Oh he put on his bright pink robes / And he curled up his yellow hair
And he ran about with his wand / As if we really care
He says he killed some old hag / And we guess it could be true
If Lockhart came after us / Wed choke to death laughing, too.
Great ideas indeed. Some others that I came up with:
-Rings and Gasha Seeds like in Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons (most of the rings could be easily imitated and Gasha Trees could produce potions of strength, vitality, etc. along with gold and rare items and rings)
-A way to get into Gidolan Keep (and interesting people and places too)
-Tournaments (where you pay an entry fee, can't get killed, face people instead of creatures, and get a nice prize depending on how well you did
-Day and Night
-The world that changes weather and seasons
Quests:
-The Holy Grail (with the Knights that Say Nee! of course)
-A quest which gets you an item similar to the Tent, but heals your magic points (a portable meditation area?)
-A quest which lets you ride a horse (in the standard game of PoG, it says that you were the most skilled of the Royal Riders)

That'd be cool. Someone needs to do that.
EDIT-- At least there I'd be able to get a drink in under 24 hours!

I have read a lot of good ideas here, but is anyone working on them? I, too, thought The Four Mages looked fun and was near completion. Cafalll has not posted for some time. It has me a little concerned for his well-being. If you are considering making a plug-in, go ahead and do it even if you think it may be similar to one already done or in the works. It takes a whole lot more time to create a game or plug-in than it does to play one. Life gets in the way. Death puts an even bigger crimp in somebody's plans! POG was written with a lot of open ended threads to build upon. I am addressing some of those in my plug-in if only by mention. There is plenty of empty space on the map, too, just begging for something interesting to be put there. Don't think that because some plug-ins are being worked on that soon there will be a glut of them. The great majority of things in the world that are started are never completed for a number of reasons. So go ahead and dive in. Yours may be one of the first released. You'll have fun, fame, at least among POG players, and fortu--. OK, not fortune, but two out of three.

I concur.
I have no problem with people creating similar plug-ins. Competition is a good thing.

Another idea:
A quest to find a Goblin settlement. The person in the Learning Tree says that a settlement has never been found, but female goblins have existed.

The Holy Grail (with the Knights that Say Nee! of course)
I'm probably wrong, but isn't that supposed to be spelled "Ni"?
Idea: Maybe some sort of monster creation thing (kinda like Spiderweb Software's Geneforge) that could give you a bodyguard of sorts?

The problem with that idea (although I think it is very cool and have wanted a bodyguard) is that I believe NPC (Non Player Characters) can't attack enemies, and an enemy would attack you and not anybody else.
Stark or others-- can you lighten that up?
Yippe!! First real day of summer! Now I'll have to look at coldstone sometime..

This is more or less correct. Unfortunately allies are not feasible at this time.

Yes, to get past a certain map, you must find the shrubber in dernath, get him to make you one, and bring it back. Later, you must get another one, find the mightiest tree in the forest, and vut it down with a HERRING!! Of course, it cant be done.
EDIT--fixed italics

A plugin that gives you (if you are a swordsman) bags similar to a goblin bag, but for different creatures. Bigger creatures like wryms give you more gold and xp for delivering them, but bigger creatures also slow you down more. I could also see strength as being a requirement for using the bag.
