    • What?

      Thought you all might enjoy this. Yes, it's quite on topic...if you have the energy to work it out.

      (Z != 26; A != 1)

      25/26/8/18/24--13/12/7/19/18/13/20/13/22/8/8--9/22/7/6/9/13/8--17/6/15/2

      Have fun.

    • oook...lets see here. The ! symbol is a probability thing where...yeah. Like 6!=6x5x4x3x2x1 So A!=1 so A=1 and Z!=26 Z= Well there's no integer that you can do that to and get 26. 2x3x4=24 and 2x3x4x5=120

      Maybe he meant ! as a variable. A!=1 then A=1 Z!=26 Z=26/!

      Maybe I can solve it as a system of eqasions:
      A!=1
      Z!=26

      !=1/A
      !=26/Z

      (LCDs)

      !=Z/AZ
      !=26A/AZ
      ----------
      0=Z-26A/AZ

      (since no number divided by anything except zero equals zero, AZ!=0)
      (and Z-26A=0)

      Thus:

      Z-26A=Z-26A/AZ

      0=Z-26A

      26A=Z and A=Z/26

      Ok, now that I have done that, I will make this post and then forget all about your little puzzle because I am making no headway.

      ------------------
      Dr. Tall says: Taller is Better

    • WAIT I forgot I'm solving a system!!!

      OK where was I?

      Z=26A and A=Z/26

      !=Z/AZ
      (Z=26A)

      !=26A/27A
      (A's cancel)

      !=26/27

      (let's try the other one)

      !=26A/AZ
      (Z=26A)

      !=26A/27A

      !=26/27

      Ok, now

      !=Z/AZ
      (!=26/27)
      (Z=26A)

      26 26A
      -- = ---
      27 27A

      (LCDs)

      26A 26A
      --- = ---
      27A 27A

      (Proportion)

      702A^2=702A^2
      (thus)
      A=any non zero real or imaginary number
      (A!=0 because it was in a proportion as the denominator)

      OK that didn't do much

      ------------------
      Dr. Tall says: Taller is Better

    • Heh, you're making it way too hard for yourself. As any programmer can tell you, != is the C/C++ notation for "not equal to." Therefore, I'm saying that Z does not carry the value 26 and A does not carry 1. This is to keep you from making the most obvious alphanumerical system as your first guess (ABC, 123, etc). It's not very complicated if you try all those next in line. I was too lazy to shift the letters around much, so the order doesn't require an RC5 cracker.

      It isn't that complicated. Think elementary school note passing type codes.

      Sure. You just had to ruin it. 😛 It was sort of fun watching people try to overanalyze it to death.

    • Heh...Dr Tall actually assumed I put some effort into making this code. 😛

      Now that all is known, let's continue. You will encounter two more levels, one fairly massive plus one boss. After playing Myst III for several weeks, it sorta' changes your view on gaming. You'll notice a shift in the new levels to large-scale puzzles. Playing Myst beforehand is a bonus prerequisite.

      And the boss? Let's just call it "yet another mean bastard level."

    • Did Myst III do that to you too spamguy? I totally stopped work on my level set while I played that awesome game, I had a bit of trouble going back to the 256 color MASCOT editor.

    • Oh and spamguy try and crack this code:

      45/12/781/4/11/45~4/458/65/17/45~87/12/333/916/312/45

    • An update now.

      I'm putting the finishing touches on the first level you'll see next version. I've counted at least 10 puzzles distributed throughout just one level, Well-Paid in Newfoundland. The second level, "Let's Dance, Fatboy," should be ample enough of a hint for now.

      I've set release for July 13th (yes, it's a Friday). I think you guys will be pleased overall...the freak accident that wiped out the original has allowed me to assemble a revamped version, more maddening than ever before. I'm very excited about the outcome.

      Myst 3 did that to me. I Just fnished it, and my brain is fried. Who knows when I'll start up Orthographic Universe again 😄 Myst 3 was incredible. While the puzzles weren't as integrated into the game as in Riven, the ending was INCREDIBLE!
