[ANN] The mrxak Challenge- Competition One

Critical Hit is easy. I'm really not interested in entering the contest, but I'll tell you how to do it:
Outfit 128: Dummy weapon outfit
onBuy: G129 G130 G131 G132 G133
onSell: D129 D130 D131 D132 D133

Outfits 129-133: The real weapons. All have the same graphic, sound, homing behavior, etc., but with different damage ratings. Set them to have large reload values (5 times what you want the final weapon's reload to have). For a further random effect, set them to have high inaccuracies.

Quite simple, really.

By the way, mrxak, when will you be announcing the winners for E#7? I've laid out the foundation with the first ship, all I need to do is the remaining ranks and misns (the latter will be much more work), and review it to make sure everything is there and working right.

Well anyone that can do it in a different (and working) way has a chance for a prize. I've only received one entry, so you still have a good chance if you get it in soon. I won't be getting around to judging these until a few more days probably.

Well, in mine, you can release, upgrade, and sell them. All three of these can be done without once landing. You'll end up going a day through time in order to sell it, though.

Buying is done through the Mission BBS.

Do I get a bonus point for making it compatible with the default scenario?

I can't guarantee that it will work with any plug-in, but hey, you can't win 'em all.

Upgrading and selling is done by landing, ordinarily. It would be better if that stayed like that for the seventh escort. I wouldn't mind seeing it with all of that in space though, just out of interest.

Well, the problem (no pun intended) is that when you upgrade or sell, it happens the next time you take off from any planet with a shipyard. There is no way to simulate this without making several hundred missions.

So when will you be announcing the winners? I'm almost done. I'm on the last ship, and that should be it! Halleluja (sp?)!

Oh, I thought you meant that the actual upgrading and selling was being conducted in space. All of that should be done on the planet, but obviously you won't notice any effect until you've left the planet.

Well, it is (unless you do it when not in space, obviously)...you want me to change it? That shouldn't be too hard...I hope. Let's see, just, instead of it not being available in the MC, make it available, and put the stuff in the OnAccept instead of OnAbort and change the quick texts to brief texts...

Thanks. Besides, it's more convenient this way.

Plus it looks pretty cool. The only problem is that when you upgrade, your old escort is still there, but oh well.

Oh, that, and I have to send you a day forward in time in order to pay you for the selling. (Shut up, iSeek :p) Is this okay? Better yet, does a rank give you your salary when activated, or do you need to wait a day. Wait, forget it. I'm not about to change 27 resources just for that.

Anyway, I should have a working version by Monday.

I'm working on the 7 escort challange as well and have it in a "should be working" state. The ncbs are being weird though. The first mission for initially hiring doesn't set the mission bit until after you've jumped out of the system, and the first mission is also available when the second ncb is set to allow for the second upgrade. All the other missions set their ncbs right when you accept, like they're suppose to, and the first mission isn't available when any of the other ncbs are set for the upgrade missions (or itself). It tests to make sure none are set, but its still available when the second is set. o.O

Also, should the plug allow you to hire all the escorts you can normally in nova? Cause I've just been doing the Starbridge A-D. I can add the other ones if neccessary (after I get the ncbs to work right).

Vortex has already spent 30+ minutes on AIM with me trying to figure it out to no avail.

Got the plug working (with a workaround for the ncb not being set OnAccept) and submitted it, mxrak. I'd just like to thank Vortex and especially Engla for suggesting the workaround and the use of paranthesis in the Availability field.
