    • Ship Trouble

      and some money problems

Ok, I rendered a ship, gave it some weapons and what not and put it into the game, my problem is that after I buy my ship I can't buy any outfits at all (the ship comes with a light blaster and when i sell that I can't buy it back again) I can't even buy a map or a battery, but then when i buy a shuttle back I can buy whatever I want to again. I was wonding if I totally missed some flag or what. I'm using a windows machine with evnew (and i did make sure that I have it so i can buy a positive number of fixed guns and turrets)
      Thanks for any help.

    • Make sure the ship has enough free mass to allow you to purchase other items. Consult a few of the other ship resources for examples.

    • I'm pretty sure that there's a bit that has to be set (b9999?) for a ship to be able to buy outfits.

    • It's actually a contribute bit. Look at any ship other than the Vellos to find out which one it is.

    • Thanks, It works great now, I guess I must have just totally missed it.

    • It seems many people miss this... Should we add this to the links page?

    • ZP mentions it in one of the guides doesn't he? I'm sure it's somewhere nearby.

    • I mention this in three guides: the BEtD, the troubleshooting guide as a known issue, and the contribute/require/scanmask guide. And it will be mentioned as well in the shďp annotated template (don't hold your breath, though, I said I'm taking a break real soon).

Actually, this problem is the plug deving issue that is the most frequently posted to the boards (be it in the EVDC, EV-Nova.net plug-in development, and even Help On The Way), plus it is specific to Nova, so it's one of the reasons (the global one being there are more things in Nova compared to EVC and EVO that make beginning to make plugs difficult, this being one of them) that made me write these guides.
