I'm afraid your plug doesn't work for me, what system is it for? I'm on an old G3 running OS 9.2.2, using Nova 1.0.8.

You couldnt be more wrong slouch. rle8 is 8 bit render. rleD is 16 bit. It just depends on your graphics card.

I'm fairly certain that you need both RLE8 and RLED to run reliably on all systems. It's usually considered the duty of the plugin maker to say 'does not run on a xxx' if you've opted not to support all the systems that Nova supports.

Just in case anyone wants to know where I got the crazy idea that only MacNova uses RLE8 resources:

If the user is in an 8-bit mode, EVN converts the 16-bit data into 8-bit data at runtime and completely disregards any rle8 data, if it exists at all. On Macs, though, it is different. Thus, a plugin created using only rleDs will work perfectly for all Windows users and for the vast majority of Mac users, since very few people nowadays can't use color depths higher than 8-bit. I'm pretty certain that your graphics card has nothing to do with Nova's performace. This is because Nova runs on pre-rendered sprites and not realtime-rendered 3D graphics. I thought that Nova's performace is contingent on how fast your processor is.
