      I need help designing ships in mechanisto.all the gides i had were either unhelpful of the document was too large to be opened by simple text please help me

      Designing ships is the easy part, I took one, small, simple lego model and turned it into six ship designs which will show up in my TC. The hard part is modeling the designs. Starting with a few simple shapes and throwing every transform possible at at them is a good way to get started at figuring out how to make stuff. Also, learning how to use the lathe tool is a good idea. You may find that it is the most powerfull tool availible for making unique shapes. Learning how to use the taper transform will also help with making pointy nosed fighters.

      I cant really offer anything else because your question was too general. Try narrowing it down.

    • Have you tried "Dossier Mechanisto Helper"? I found it very useful when I started making ships in Mechanisto. It is available (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/MechanistoHelper110.sit.hqx?path=ev/utilities&file;=MechanistoHelper110.sit.hqx")here(/url) on the addons page. The information on creating wings and spďns is especially helpful.

    • I just had about the worst time in the last month trying to get Mechanisto to make what I would define as a 'Nova-quality' ship. It can make a lot of really neat stuff, but as my wife put it a lot of them end up looking like a block of wood suspended between two d****s. That was enough to make me stop.

    • I know of a really good mechanisto tutorial. It has both advanced and simple tutorials, as well as misc information on things such as making cables, supernovas, lasers, flares, etc.

      It was made back in EVO I think, but the actual modelling section is really good.

      rmx, you aren't the only one having trouble making Nova-quality ships. I've only just made my first one that I consider to be Nova quality, and I've had Mechanisto for years... Though it helps to have started out at a time when I wasn't discouraged by EV's ships. I tend to have a big problem with looking at other people's work, looking at mine, and saying "Why bother?"

      That one is the beginner's one. It only uses the basic transformations (translation, scaling, rotations, and orientation), so it's pretty simple.

      Also note that whenever you put a number/name into nearly any field, you should push return or select another field in the same window before doing anything else, otherwise the change won't work. Mechanisto is odd that way.

      Thats asking too much. I suggest just playing around with the program, throwing random transforms onto a cube or something. Nobody is going to make a new guide.
