    • Weapons Plug-in Help


      I'm starting to try and learn how to make plugins of my own, and I began creating a beam weapon. Now, I've got everything down... colors... descriptions... etc., but when I purchase the weapon and try it out for myself, the beam doesn't seem to be able to hit ships -- what happens is all the beam does is hit asteroids and not other ships, which kinda defeats the purpose. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    • Check your Flags2 settings. It sounds as if 0x8000 is set ("Weapon does x10 mass damage to asteroids") and there might be another incorrectly set bit.

      That shouldn't make any difference.

      Check to make sure 0X0400 is not set (planet type weapons), that may cause this problem.

    • In earlier versions of the game, beam weapons can't hit ships that are set to shoot asteroids and scoop in the bits (please don't ask me for the flags, I use NovaTools).
      Or is it a planet-type weapon? It is possible that the weapon is set to destroy stellar objects. Weapons with this settings can't hit ships.
      There is also a flag to prevent it from hitting fast ships and one that prevents it from being fired while the ship is ionized.
      Finally there's one that allows you only to fire when you have a key carried aboad.
      On the other side, you said it does fire but doesn't hit, right? So the last three ones can be ignored.
