I tried (in a shuttle) a mission that would swap you into a Thunderforge onAbort. However, when you do that, you end up disabled from only having 30/1100 armor.

So yeah, that's a bit harder to explain than combat damage.

    • Summary of current problems:

1.) Figure out how to lower shields from carrier level to fighter level after the Hxxx takes effect.

This can be accomplished with another invisible ship, like the trigger, which will have a one-use weapon that can attack the player's shields. We can summon it into the system with an Sxxx

2.) Figure out how to get the carrier back into the system.

I think this can be done with another trigger/weapon pair, something like "Signal Mothership", which would cause a disabled (use flags in the düde) specialship to hyper in (ShipStart 1) and await rescue (ShipGoal 6). The player can then be Hxxx'ed back into the carrier OnShipDone, but he will be disabled.

3.) Figure out how to repair the player's carrier in a timely fashion.

If a negative damage weapon can be made to work, the rescued carrier can be made to cloak (Cloak on Attack) and then fire a self-destroying weapon (Ammotype -999) at the player (ShipBehav 0). This might restore the player's armor and shields.

Alternatively, you could Gxxx the player an auto-repair outfit and then remove it immediately (oütf flag 0x0010). This would not repair shields, however.

Would Gxxxing a Shield Capacitor work in the same way that Nova's "refuel ship" mission Gxxx's a negative fuel cell?

Yeah, but we're talking about a fighter and a carrier, not a shuttle and a thunderforge. Isn't the difference a little bit smaller here?

Wouldn't it be easier to do a Gxxx temporarily?

So Gxxx a healing outfit and Dxxx it when the ship jumps in. Make the healing outfit restore all your shields and armor.

Gxxx a healing outfit and Dxxx it in a cron.

Well...that's not a good idea, in my opinion. I personally prefer mine.

So Gxxx a shield capacitor (see below) and remove it a little later.

Yes! If you make them get all their shields back again instantly and remove some peiod of time later, it should work.
