      Ok, I have lots of questions and problems and I think it would be better if I made this topic for them and for any questions I might have later. These are all for EV Override

      Problem 1:I made an outfit for EVO, it is supposed to work as a licence. When you buy it it make certain items availible. But even with all the tech levels set up it won't apear in the outfitter

      question 1:Is it possible to make an outfit that is ilegal in EVO? If so, how?

      problem2:I made a weapon sprite, but when I use the weapon in the game the shot is only visible streight up and down (sorry, I gave wrong information on the other topec. ) Does anybody know whats wrong?

      question 2:How do you alter the interface, for Instance, I've seen the landing view you get made like the nova landing view. And the shipyard pictures made larger. Does anybody know how to do this?

      problem 3:Even after setting up the dude ID's in the syst resorce, certain ships keep apearing. The ships are the merchant arada, miranu freighter, and lazira. What's wrong?

      question 3:what is the best way to get sounds?

      question 4:In origonal Ev, and some EVO plugins, prices varied from planet to planet. how is this done?

      If anybody knows anything about these questions and problems, please help me!

    • sounds like a poblem with your spin..maybe you have to high column and row values.

      Or a problem with the movie file.
      First time I made a spin i made a warp in animaton...this caoused this kind of effect... When it rotated it only showed up in some directions.

      Spins are the same in EVo as in NOVA right..?

    • I don't think illegal outfits are possible in EVO. The closest workaround might involve assigning an illegal cargo via the misn resource, but that would be pretty sloppy, at best. Or possibly, using the dude MissionBit field to replace a certain govts ships with a duplicate govt (and ships), which always attacks the player. Again, sloppy. But, it's been years since I've used the EVO engine.

    • Problem 1: You'll need to give some more details.

      Question 1: The Space Mine in EVO (or maybe the launcher) is kinda illegal. It sets a mission bit when you purchase it which enables a mission called "Pay Fine". In this mission you must travel to a certain planet and lose some of your cash or else get a really bad legal rating with the UE.

      Problem 2: Download NovaTools and install just the spďn part of it. You can then view the spďn in ResEdit and see if there are any problems. The problem you're having may be because of a bad mask.

      Question 2: There is a resource in the EVO application which contains the data for all the windows (dlog I think - just poke around until you find the right one). From there you can resize all the elements of the window and move stuff around. The images for all the buttons are stored in the data files and can easily be swapped with other pics. If you know what you're doing you could probably even add a background pic to the window like in Nova.

      Problem 3: Again, you'll need to give more details.

      Question 3: Steal them. No, seriously, if you can find the free sounds that you want you can convert them into a System 7 sound using a program like SoundApp and then copy the snd resource out of that file.

      Question 4: I don't think this is possible to do manually. It's just something that happens.

      21, the actual shot is only 18 long though. It is also a little off center. The mask was made using the magic wand tool to select the shots and delete them.

      problem 1updated:The outfit works as a licence. When you purchase it a misson bit is set that makes availible certain ships. The tech level for it is 15, which matches the tech level of all UHW Federation planets. It does not require a mission bit. Its Id is 206, the flag value is $000C.

      question 1answered:I wondered what that mission was for. I guess that is the best I can do.

      problem 2 unanswered:the closer the shot's angle gets to a perfect 45 degree angle, the less of the shot can be seen. At a perfect 45 degrees it cannot be seen at all. Spins in EVO are similar to nova, but they are not encoded in Rle.

      question 2 answered:Hmmmm, that will be hard, I'll see what I can do though.

      problem 3 updated:In some of the systems I made the Lazira, merchant arada, and miranu freighter show up spontaniosly. Even after I altered the dudes that should show up, and the dudes themselves. I don't know why this is. I do have a solution though. I'm going to make those ships upgraded versions of normal ships. 😄

      question 3 semi answered:I'm already using three sounds from Nova, I wasn't planning on keeping them though. They were just placeholders because I couldn't stand the normal sounds. I was planning to find a program that can alter sounds and change their pitch and length. Where can I find such a program?

      question 4 semi answered:I discovered that in the plugins that this happens, there are several layers of tech level. I'm guessing that the higher the tech level on the planet, the lower the price.

      Sounds to me like our animation is supposed to warp in. The animation starts with black mask...mask and shots increases in size in later frames.Your shot and mask must be the same size in all the frames, or it will change size as you turn the ship. It would be really great with a Shan resource for this. as you could make warp in animations and such. I´m not sure, but i think is impossible right now.

      If this is not how your shot is made, i´ll need a little more info.

    • P1: Make sure you don't have any other plugs that may be overwriting the outfit. I can't think of anything else helpful at the moment but if you send the outfit to me I'll check it out.

      P2: Does it look like that in NovaTools spďn editor? Send the sprite, mask, and spďn to me and I'll have a look at it.

      P3: So the three ships types you mentioned are showing up when you don't want them to, is that right? Is it just one of each ship or do they come and go randomly like normal dudes? Are you sure the ships aren't persons or mission-related?

      Q3: Well I don't know much about sound editing programs although I do remember using an old program called Sound Edit once. Sound Edit could even load/save sounds directly from/into resource forks.

      Try setting it to 24. This will also make it not off-center.

      You do mean it's 21 x 21, right?

      Each shot frame is 21x21, the whole thing is 126x126. I'll have to go try that.

      modesty-blaise-us, this is overide, it is not a warp animation, its a shot sprite.

      I don't know if there could be something overwriting the outfit, I'll have to check.
      The ships come and go randomly like in a dude. They shouldn't be mission releted, unless,bright idea maybe some Override cargo missions didnt' get overwritten by my missions. I remember when looking at EVO cargo missions to get ideas that they often add axilury ships to help with the effect. It just might be that. I must look.
      Is sound edit still availible anywhere?

      But I'm sure there's plenty of better, recent programs around somewhere.
