Has anyone noticed that the way Shäns are set up can influence how a player's ship can pick up mined minerals (micro-crystals, asteroid bits, the-little-boxes-that asteroids-drop-when-they-die), or how a ship gets hit?
I'm starting to think that the way various weapons ports (Guns, guideds, turrets and beams) are positioned can influence the way a ship is treated by the game in terms of 'contacts.' You may have seen this when flying over asteroid bits, and not collecting them, or with some larger ships, how a rocket traveling through the port/starboard side of the ship, parallel to the aim of the ship, might not hit.
I know I've seen these thing across several versions of Nova, but I can't nail down an exact explanation for it. I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but now I'm asking you of the Dev Corner: Has anyone else noticed this, or should I be lining up a good psychologist?
