In Nova you can have more frames than that. (I usually use 71) Plus there's tilting effects.
The bigger the ship, the more frames it should have.

Listen, (url="http://"http://www.dictionary.com/")dictionary.com(/url) is your friend. In English we have Grammar and Spelling. Conventions so we can actually understand what is said.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but every 10 year old I have known has had sufficient grasp of these concepts to write a coherent sentence. Most 6 years olds have a better grasp of where capital letters and full stops go.

Yes, I know this sounds insulting, but I expect a certain level of spelling and grammar from posters here. This is not real time, you can spend half an hour writing a post if that's what it takes to get it right. I know I do sometimes. Also, if you can't use grammar and spelling properly, you really should learn those skills before attempting to make a plugin, there's more writing than you'd expect.

As for your question, I would recommend Cinema 4D, that's what I use when I am doing 3D modelling (no, I'm not making an EV plugin) and find it quite intuitive. It costs US$300 on academic discount, somewhere over US$1000 normally. Be prepared to spend several years learning the program before you get to EV:Nova quality. That goes for any 3D graphics program, they take a lot of learning.

I don't know EVNEW, but the EV:Nova bible is a good place to start when trying to understand everything. Open the Nova resources and look at how they're put together.

I found on a site that did an interesting review on 3D renderers that while most of the information is quite advanced, the bit at the end might help a bit (there was an image that I had posted that doesn't allow external linking, so I'm getting rid of it)
      (url="http://"http://www.zaon.com/company/articles/3d_rendering.php")here(/url)

This will hopefully give you an idea of where to look for the high-end modeler/renderer for you. Of course, these all are very pricy programs, so it's best to get a demo first. Maya has Maya PLE, 3dsmax must have a demo too, XSI has the XSI Experience, Lightwave has a demo, Cinema 4D and Houdini I assume have demos as well. For mid-pricerange programs, there are Strata and Carrera. For something free, go for programs like Mechanisto, Blender, Wings 3D, and POV-Ray - These tend to be harder to learn, don't have as many features as the others, and usually don't use file formats that are easily compatible with the others.

I'm leaving Bryce out of my list because it really isn't a modelling program. From what I've seen, people work far too hard to make models in Bryce that they could easily have done in a cheaper modeller.

As for EVNEW, try reading the EV Nova Bible, it will tell you everything you need to know about what everything means. It won't tell you what to do with the information.

    • Zaku: Do a search for Mechanisto online. It's free and relatively easy to learn. It isn't a very powerful program, but once you know how to model it applies pretty well to other programs as well. Mechanisto is a great starter's 3D program, especially since there are so many tutorials for it out there.

Isnt Mechanisto Mac only? Zaku's on a PC if you havnt noticed that from his use of EVNEW.

For PC, the only 3d graphics proggy i have been able to make sense of is Wings3d, but even that has some significant limitations (but i think part of that is that I dont know all that can be done with it.

Ok, I decided to try making your ship. I've got a basic model of a skyhopper now with no real textures. If you could be a little more specific about what textures you want that would be nice. also, do you want the wraithi cannon to replace the big cannon on the bottom of the SW hopper?
I've got a few ideas of my own too. How about getting rid of those bland sticks on the wings and putting light cannons or medium blasters there?

I will say right now that I'm not super at 3D drawing, or making textures. I may not be able to do exactly what you want.

to everybody else:has anybody got a good poloris texture, with and/or without the cool little lights? This ship will look a lot better if use my home-made textures as little as possible.

EDIT-I forgot to mention several important things. I'm on a mac and I have no Idea how to make a Nova plug anyway. I still haven't figured out how to spin my ships without using a proccess which takes three hours, and I don't feel like doing that for sombody else. Which of course means somebody has to do it for me. In short, I need some help here.

I use Strata Vision3D, not to be confused with Strata 3D. obj or dxf are the easiest for me to make if Br and Li don't read Srata vision's files.

.obj or .dxf would be fine. And I believe neither reads StrataVision files.

Okay, the big cannons graphics should be the Wraith grav. beam, but purple called the plasma cannon. The side things can be made into better things if you want, I don't know what. The texture of the ship should be that of the rebel dragon, because I like the green flashy things on it. It should be very fast and manoeuvrable and have pretty good mass, but not over done, Okay? The engine should be so it looks like the Viper's, but instead of two make it one big one, and the colour blue. That's about it. I think it would look awesome. (Like a hotdog! Eddie Izzard joke 😛 --blackhole) Oh, I forgot, call the ship the Falcon. I think this ship will be totally awesome, do you agree?

(Grammar notes - only use 'and' once in a sentence. 'I' is always capital on its own. Learn this and you'll get A's in English ;))

Looking at the model I've got and imagining it like you said It looks awsome. The rebel dragon texture will be alot harder to duplicate, but it will look better in the end.

so, does anybody have a rebel dragonish texture?

take a look at this zaku. This is a rendering of the model I've got, without details and with only basic, template textures. I'd like you to give me an idea of what should be changed to make it more what you want, is the line pattern Ok? would to like it to be more detailed? Like I said, the textures you see are only templates. They don't have the bump maps or lighting the final textures will.

EDIT-I'm afraid that the picture I put up is already outdated. I have begun to add details to the basic model. There are now reproductions of the Light blasters on each of the lower wings, and windscreens where the cabin is. I've run into a problem here. The wraith graviton beam isn't a visible weapon. It is just a progection that comes from the wraith's arms/wings? It would look dumb if I put wraith arms/wings? on the bottom of the ship don't you think? What do you want me to do about it?
