    • Well, since I don't have that direction on my machine (WinME is different), I might need further directions.
Also: Thinking back--I closed EVNEW after the picture attempts, then opened it up later and listened to the Nova sounds. oops. :frown:

    • No, I haven't forgotten about you. I'm really quite baffled right now. Later this week, I might throw in a ton of diagnostic stuff into a temporary version that might give me some information. However, for the next release version, I'm not going to use the system temp folder for temporary files; that's just causing too many people problems.

    • Sweet. Dude, this is a great product. Thanks for all the help. I trust you will post it somewhere when you release the next version. Appreciate it.

    • EVNEW Public Beta 1.0.3 is now available at (url="http://"http://www.aznt.com/EVN/EVNEW")http://www.aznt.com/EVN/EVNEW(/url) . The link at the bottom still says 1.0.2, but that's a typo - the download is still correct. The only change from 1.0.2 is the temporary file directory. Hopefully this should solve your problem.

    • Well, it's nice to know that my offerings should work. It's also nice to see that the people making editors these days have an active connection with the development community. I can't recall Ben Chess ever responding to comments on the fatally-flawed EV-Edit.

Yep. It's just too bad that his Karma did not reflect how good Aprosenf is with helping this community. Shame be on the moderators here for not doing something to show his work is welcomed by us all. 😄 Hint Hint...

Then again this just reflects my feelings on how silly Karma is. It never worked on other boards I was involved in so I see no reason it will work better here.

Just the same and that aside... Adam has opened the community for us PC owners and has allowed those of us on PC's to use your graphics.

    • Another problem I've been experiencing in EVNEW is that when I import a new sound to use for a weapon. At first, everything goes well, the sound imports in and I can play it, but after I load my plug-ins for testing, the sound either doesn't work (muted) on my weapons, or my entire weapon does not work.

I've checked several times to see if I might just have some conflicting resources or have improperly entered in resource ID #'s, but neither seems to be the case. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    • Not even on 1.0.3.

    • Sorry for the delay, I've been busy as of late. I just sent you a fresh diagnostic copy of EVNEW that will spit out a bunch of messages when importing a pict. Try to import one and let me know what comes up. I suspect it's some weird thing going on with QuickTime, but I honestly don't know what's going on. You do have a relatively new version of QuickTime (I have 6.3, so that or anything later should be good enough), right?

    • Okay. I have 6.3 as well, and it doesn't work. Here's what the log says:

      Quote

      GraphicsExportDoExport(): -32767

      Wow. Weird.

He, though, I like your "Beginning Quicktime Stuff" line 😄

    • Well, that at least tells me where the problem is being caused. -2003 is the "cantFindHandler" error code, meaning the QuickTime media layer (QTML) can't find the code to read/write .bmp files (Windows bitmaps). Very odd. To be honest, I have no idea how to fix it. All I can suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling QuickTime. I understand you must be frustrated, but when QuickTime is misbehaving, there's nothing I can do about it. Of course, if someone with experience working with the QuickTime API and could figure out a way to get the image information directly from the QTML, then I could circumvent the need for my ugly temporary file solution.

    • I did it! It seems to work now! I re-installed Quicktime, and it works. Unfortunatly, it crashes when I bring up my old plug and try to import into that. If I make a new one, it imports fine, though. Thanks a lot, Apronsef.

At this point, can you export the old plug to text, and then go into the text file to remove any mention of any picts (you dont have to change line at the top that says the number of resources - it looks like all that effects is the status bar on load.), and then reimport it? That should purge any aspects of the plug that could cause any problems.
