Is it possible to give a ship two different types of engine glow, one for normal flying, and a different one for hyperspace jumps?

Stuffit is a piece of .sit.
You could use 2-4 sets of the ship one with no glows and 1-3 others that have the glows. When it hypers, it will show it. But the regular engine glow will still be seen

I'm not quite sure I follow here.....would this be workable on the player's ship, or just AI ships?
EDIT: Is there an "Unfold to hyper" option? Perhaps it could be done with that.

There's an unfold to take off tag that's used on the Auroran Argosy. The ship unfolds to take off, and folds up for hyperspace. I used it once to make a fighter that swept forward its wings for normal flight, and then swept back for hyperspace.

It would be tricky, but it could work......
The thing is, the Firefly -class ship lights up in the back just before leaping forward at full burn speed. If I have that light-up be as part of the fold-up procedure---so that folded and unfolded sprites are identical, but getting between them isn't---it might produce the right effect. I'll have to experiment with that.

^That's not really an issue. I'll try to get some screencaps to demonstrate.
EDIT: All right, here they are.
The top one is maneuvering engines; the bottom one is full burn. Its not explicitly stated on the show, but it is presumed that full burn is, essentially, an FTL drive. (That's pretty much the show's only flaw---not explaining the FTL much.)

hmm, i am looking for a similar effect. i want to make the enterprise (star trek) use it's impulse engines for menuvering, and both impulse AND warp nacelles fo making the jump. (could someone explain it in basic idiot-speak for me? i don't exactly know much at all about engine glows, except maybe that they turn on while moving and off while not... )

Any animation the main sprite has, includeing the jump/land animation need to be covered in the spins for the engine glows. just have glows change position as the model changes in the frames.

you will only see AI ships unfold to land, and since they can only land standing still, no engine glow. Yet when you do take off, you ship will go from fold out to fold in. Its pretty fast so if your finger is on the accelerator the second you leave planet, you may get a slight glimpse of the glow. yet its hard to tell since I dont know how bright yours will end up being.
