Hello everybody. I've taken up the challange to develop the New Starfleet Adventures Website. It'll have the same great information you've come to love, but the site will be redesigned and reorganized (yay! PHP!). The only thing I need is a new site-wide Banner to go across the top of the page. I could fumble around with Photoshop trying to make something, but I've decided I'd rather give those with actual graphic design skills an opportunity to do so. So I bring you:
THE NEW SFA WEBSITE DESIGN COMPETITION!
Design Guidelines:
- Should somehow mention Starfleet Adventures in it - since its suppose to identify the site.
- Should be Star Trek / Space related (like some ships or something) - unless you have another super-awesome idea. But they shouldn't take focus away from the Starfleet Adventures words, just to compliment them.
- Preferably on a blackish background (or spaceish - like starscape or nebula or something) - unless, once again, you have another super-awesome idea. I'd really like it if you could make the left and right edges end completely black (#000000) so that it will blend in with the background.
- Image should be from 600 pixels to 800 pixels wide. Exceptions for particularly super-awesome designs, but I'd really rather it not be larger than 800 pixels. It actually should be smaller. Major parts of the image should be viewable when in 640x480 screen resolution (i.e. the words Starfleet Adventures). I'd also prefer it to not be too tall. Its suppose to span the top of each page. Maybe, 200 pixles high max, preferably shorter.
- May include some reference to EV Nova or AmbrosiaSW. Doesn't have to though.
- You may include a signature of some sort in your Banner, but it should be small and not stand out.
Submitting your entry:
- Please save your entry in jpeg, gif, or png format (preferably .jpg). Save the image with your board name as the filename. Please make your images web-friendly (i.e. not extremely large size - I think Photoshop has options for web).
- Attach the archive to an email with "SFA Banner Competition Entry" as the title (or something to that effect). Send the email to pougan@woh.rr.com. Or post it in this thread.
- One person may make multiple entries. If you choose to submit multiple designs, make them seperate images with a number appended to the end of your board name. Also, different entries should be of a different design. Don't submit two banners which are the same except for a changed font or something. If they're too similar I'll either pick one myself or have you pick one.
*The top 3 finalists will all be mentioned in the website credits, and the winner's design(s) will be used. If I'm having trouble picking (hopefully I will) I may have a public poll to decide whose design wins and will be used. Keep in mind if you do win, I may ask for you to alter something on the Banner.
The cutoff date is whenever I feel I have enough entries. I'll post when I'm thinking I may have enough entries. If you are working on one at that time, send me an email to inform me and I'll consider extending the cutoff date.
