is there a way to rename your ship? (i accidentilly named mine pirate valkyrie 247)
i was wondering if there was a plugin i could make that would allow you to rename your ship.

UPDATE: I'm stupid. It's possible in the game. However, what I posted might work...
Beware! As seant tells in his wonderful PFE for EVO, rechristen your ship is seen as unlucky, so do at your own risk. There is no way to rename your ship within the game, even with a plug (unless it changes your ship to the one you have and let you keep your outfits).
If you want to try, you must have or emulate a Mac, EVNEW can't make anything on pilot files. Make a copy of your pilot. Open the original with ResEdit. Find the ressource whose name is the name of your ship (the ressources themselves are cryptic, don't open them), and rename it. Save, close, and run Nova. If it works, congrats, you've made it, if it doesn't or crashes, trash the modified pilot file and revert to your copy. It worked in EV and EVO, it should in EVN. Well, I hope it does. Renaming yourself is easier, though, just rename the pilot file.

Of course there is. Make a plug-in with a STR# resource with your shïp name (the one you want it to be), and a mïsn resource that sets Txxx in its OnAccept field, replacing xxx with the STR# Resource ID. You might also want to apply an Axxx in there, but it doesn't matter.
Basically:
STR# 128 - 1: <insert ship name>
mïsn 128 - OnAccept: T128, A128
That's all! Just name your resource something you can remember, go to a Mission BBS, and accept that mission. You've just renamed your ship!

Yeah, there's a way to do it with a plugin. You have to pick the name in advance, though. Check out the Txxx bit. What I'd do is make an outfit that has Txxx in the onPurchase. The xxx refers to a str# resource- a new name for your ship is chosen randomly. So just put in the name you want, and viola.

Ah, a nice solution. The best I could think of was creating a specific plugin for the ship he's in and using Cxxx to give him another copy of the ship... unfortunately, if I recall correctly that doesn't give you an opportunity to choose the ship name either!
Txxx is of such uncommon use that I'd completely forgotten about it.
