I'm trying to add a Protoss Archon to Nova so I can float around and zap people with Psionic Shockwave, but I have hit a problem: Alt sprites display above the base sprites.
The files I'm using are in this (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/artanis/sprite/Archon.zip")zip file(/url) (source images (.bmp, .psd), out of date .rez that will get you the archon with a new char)
The aura around the archon has been combined with the orbiting lines for simplicity, and all the images have been layed out correctly so the arms animate for firing.
Now, the body itself is animated. If I didn't do that, I could make the aura base and the body alt, but then it would be a static archon. Unless Nova can use extra frames on the Alt sprite for firing.
Another I idea I had was to cut a hole in the aura so the body shows through, but then there would be a mismatch when you fire and the body animates.
I can't combine everything because then there would be 2 different animations in the rle and 1024 frames (16 frames of aura animation times 4 firing animation states (one for basic, 3 for firing animation) times 16 rotation frames).
Right now, though, the aura sprite is somehow linked to rotation, which is another problem.
