I'll be putting batch files up pre-thanksgiving, one lump for ships, another for outfits. These will be in addition to the individual files, as I don't want to discourage those on dialups, nor anyone who only needs a couple of these. Also, it shouldn't be hard at all to EnRLE the files the way they're set up, and there are a couple cheap photoshop tricks one could do to create engine glows without any hand-painting. The dimensions of the ships would still be small by Nova terms, but certainly usable. I'm not on my home computer right now, else I would upload the batch files right now.
Sam_the_Smart: That frigate was, not surprisingly, directly inspired by that ship from Freespace. I'll fix the link for cannon #4 in a few hours. Thanks!
Weepul 884: I remember when you asked me how I decided where to put details and whatnot, and I wrote an exhaustive theory on how I envisioned the physics of Cold Blood to operate...ah, those sweet, innocent days. I should've jsut said "I operate on serendipity," in retrospect. Your stuff is a great inspiration to me, still, I should mention.
The state of Cold Blood is thus (warning: lengthy):
All the graphics on this page were created for CB originally, when it was designed to run off of the first EV engine. The alpha version for it was quite playable, only completely devoid of missions and running on half a galaxy. I think I said I'd upload this version to the public, 'cause it's a thoroughly entertaining battle plug if nothing else. On a more personal level, the original story was co-written with my girlfriend at the time, and when that relationship ended, the project understandably stalled.
Enter Nova. Now I can do what I always wanted with the graphics, yet the source 3D files for the ships were all lost. The new story wouldn't have used many of them anyway, so I'm re-doing all graphics in LightWave while I donate the old ones for public use (thus m shipyard is created). Additionally, a lot of the limitations I had put on plot due to the engine are now gone. Three cheers to the ATMOS team and MCB for that!
The only thing that now stands in my way is, well, time. The relentless onward march of college demands a fair portion of my attention, whether I yield to it or not. Winter break will see some substantial progress, possibly a new site where I can detail this sort of info at length. In any case, it is not dead as long as I am still alive, and I hope it won't always be "the coolest plug-in never released" (thanks pipeline, email is pending).
So...yeah. I may release "novafied" versions (i.e. photoshopped, not re-rendered) of the shipyard with engine glows, but no banking for obvious reasons.
Perhaps I should post more often, so all this text is more fairly distributed amongst multiple posts...cheers if you've read this far!
