EVNEW - Escape Velocity: Nova Editor for Windows Public Beta 1.0.1 is now available for download, along with the source code, at (url="http://"http://www.aznt.com/EVN/EVNEW")http://www.aznt.com/EVN/EVNEW(/url) . Here is a list of all the changes from 1.0.0:

      -- Bug Fixes --

      • Fixed a bug causing a crash when pasting text from the clipboard in a plugin with a str# resource that did not have an open editing window
      • Fixed a bug causing the last character of a desc to be cut off when saved
      • Fixed a bug that displayed weapon exit point positions in shans as all copies of the first exit point of each type
      • Fixed a bug where you could type text into Ship Probability 11 in dudes
      • Fixed a bug where you couldn't type A-F into the require field for misns
      • Fixed a bug where you couldn't type text into Short Name in ranks
      • Fixed a bug where scan fines, smuggling penalties, and disabling penalties in govts were loaded incorrectly
      • Fixed a bug loading certain color icons (cicns)
      • Fixed a bug where misn ship starts were saved incorrectly

      -- Feature Changes --

      • Can now translate most character codes between Windows and Mac fonts, such as accented characters and various symbols
      • Increased tool tip display time to 10 seconds

As a reminder, anyone is free to download EVNEW with no obligation. If you find a bug or something that's amiss, let me know right away. Send me a detailed email at Aprosenf@aol.com for best and fastest results. You can also suggest features you would like to see in future versions. I've got a lot of good ideas so far that I'm working on adding. For Windows 98 users, there have been reports of odd behavior concerning the Window menu and loading files from double-clicking .rez files after creating a file association. I am working on this. Have fun making plugins.

Sigh. PC users are people too. (Honest! I may not be humane, but I am atleast halfway human) 😛
I belive the p in Aprosenf does stand for a middle name - i thought I remember seeing it some where, but I may be wrong.

By the way, what part of MA are you from, Aprosenf? lives in MA, USA too

    • Yes, the p stands for my middle name. Phillip if you must know. The first time I used it, whatever the situation was, I was limited to 8 characters, and I've used the same handle since. I'm in the suburbs of Boston.

Okay. I was just curious. I knew the A was for Adam, and the rosenf for Rosenfield, but I wasn't sure if it stood for a middle name or it just sounded better than Arosenf (though I guess then it would have been Arosenfi). Either way, it sounds better 🙂

Stop being a jerk. It's not funny; it was never funny. If you think you're going to make anyone switch to a Macintosh by posting your smartass comments, you're sorely mistaken.

Good to see the editor is being worked on. I'm going to actually make a very small test TC-type plug-in to see if the editor is currently capable of handling something of such scale.

Cool. Me too (Newton, to be spesific).

UER&D;: Mabey I have just built up an immunity to it, but Orca's smartass comments dont seem to bother me that much. They're a bit annoying, but not that bad - I have seen far far worse pc-bashing here. And he knows (or I assume he does) that nobody will switch because of his comments (infact, it will further set people in thier ways).

Sigh Maybe you haven't gotten it yet, but I'm not trying to get anyone to switch. If I wanted to try and make people switch, I'd link them (url="http://"http://www.apple.com/switch")here.(/url) If it really bothers you all that much, I'll stop, but I personally see no reason you should give any thought to it.

It's starting to bother me. It's become apparent that nobody appreciates it, but you continue with your windows-bashing for reasons unknown. Mac OS and Windows both have their advantages and proponents - referring to it as 'Microsquash Winblows' only makes you look like an idiot.

How hard is it to understand?

I'm NOT bashing anything. And if you have a problem with my signature, why didn't you tell me earlier?

Besides, I'm quite aware noone appreciates it. What I wasn't aware of was that people made such a big deal out of it. Trust me, as Az said, there are much worse comments out there. There are entire websites bashing Windows.

Seriously, if you have a problem with something I'm doing, tell me the first time. I'm not at all against stopping if it bothers you that much.

Shall I start referring to you as "orcaf***er" instead, then? I won't be bashing you by your logic. 😛

To be honest, I hadn't actually bothered to look at your signature until then. Given that most people's signatures are either a collection of links I don't care about or a quote I don't care about, I tend to skip over them.

      Okay...well, actually, it's a link...and a (sort of) quote.

I'd say we should get back on topic, but, well...you get the point (I think).

    • Man has this gone way off topic now.

I do have a question though. Will there be a way to save the plugs made with EVNew to MAC format as well? I would hope that everyone can use the results of the program and not just PC users.
