    • ANN: el3 and Strata Downloads

With the upcoming launch of (url="http://"http://el3.northernswamp.com/")el3(/url) my new revamped EV and Strata Resource Site, I have started to upload certain files for download, the first of which being the version of Strata 3D 3.0.2 free that I had available with Ewan's Lair.

I just finished uploading the file there (bloody 56k...) and for anyone wishing a copy, it can be found (url="http://"http://el3.northernswamp.com:16080/downloads/strata/")here(/url). Included in the file are all the files needed for getting up and modelling, as well as a read me with instructions oin use.

Thats about it for now, I hope to have more features up by the end of next week, but the final site will probably not be interface complete until late January/February (you know, exams, girlfriend, etc). Things to look forward to are loads more Strata tutorials than there were previously. Azdara and I have unofficially teamed up to bring you all you need to know for starting out in Strata, so expect more tutorials from me along with a load of fresh tutorials from him!

This is also a request, if you have any sounds, quality graphics or other resources that you wish to release to the community, please contact me at (url="http://"mailto:ecc2@st-andrews.ac.uk")mailto:ecc2@st-andrews.ac.uk(/url)ecc2@st-andrews.ac.uk

    • That's a Classic version of Strata, isn't it? (I must have downloaded it from your site at least twice, but it always got lost before I got around to using it...).
I don't really want to go back to Classic anymore - I have blender and a second-hand copy of Lightwave now, that should be all I'll ever need for 3D modeling.

Anyway, if you're also going to include a Plugin Graveyard where people can dump their unfinished/unused plug-ins for others to recycle:
I have a half-finished major plug for EV (everything finished except for the mission strings) still lying around somewhere. Some of the graphics weren't too horrible - if I find the disk back, I'd be willing to upload the ResEdit files and original (Infini-D 3.something) files for other people to use.

Yes, unfortunately there is no free X native version of Strata.

Yes, a plug-in graveyards are one of the planned features for el3. There will be one for each incarnation of the series. 3d models are also welome in any format. I may convert them to a more universally readable format once they get here (I have Infini-D 4.5, but seldom use it) so that they are more accessable for the whole community, although you will still get full credit.

I'll send you an email over the next few days to talk over the transfer of files between us so that they can be added to the site.
