    • trouble emulating MacOS

I've been having a lot of problems.

I've got all the stuff I need, but when i go to swith over to the Mac OS, a disk comes up with a question mark blinking. What does that mean?

Also, on a previous attempt I was able to get into the Mac OS, however, i couldn't operate EVONE or ResEdit to make some plugs. I got a message saying something to the effect of "The file that created it cannot be found" or something like that. What's that mean?

Also - how the heck do i use the HFV Explorer?
Is there a very detailed README on how to do all of this somewhere?
Does it matter I'm using Windows XP?
Are there any bundles that are already set up out there?

Solutions to all of these problems would be much appreciated, I'm very lost. Thanks in advance! 🙂

    • Okay, I have one question for you: What emulator are you using?

    • Ok, first the good news: There is a very detailed set of instructions out there. I followed it word for word and link for link, and my BII setup could not have been easier.

Now the bad news: I have no idea where that instruction set is. Try googling for it.

You flashing disk is probably because you haven't installed the system files yet. I remember the instructions have you:

      1. Install BII
      2. Create a Mac bootdisk
      3. Boot with that disk
      3. Quit BII
      4. Use HFV Explorer to put System 7.5 on your new fake Mac hard disk
      5. Boot with boot disk
      6. Install System 7.5
      7. Eject boot disk
      8. ... and reboot BII.

I'm skipping steps, I'm sure... really, you should find the instructions.

Just remember, whatever you do... DO NOT tell Basilisk it can use your root drive (like C 🙂 as it's Mac HFV volume. Doing so will format your whole hard drive as a Mac, leaving you very screwed.

      Peace,
      Luck

    • No clue at all what the instructions were called? Thanks for the limited help in any case. 🙂

disk with question mark = missing or messed up system folder
insert cd and hold down the c key upon next boot.

The file that created it cannot be found = the app that created it is missing.

    • ok, found a site (url="http://"http://www.emaculation.com")www.emaculation.com(/url) which helped me get the mac os up and running. which bring up a new question. Is there a way to get resedit.sit? the stuffit i have on the MacOS is only 4.0.2 and it doesn't support .sea extensions. Or is there somewhere i can get and install an updated Stuffit on the Mac OS?

    • .sea files are Self Extracting Archives - you shouldn't need any extractor for it.
