Sure. Whenever a medium to heavy engine change is requested by the developers, Matt Burch always answers "There will be no new features in EV:N." In other words, this thing has been done, thus he does not want to spend the time, effort, and debugging for stuff that is not absolutely crititcal to the current scenario.

      Specifically, no new engine changes.

new features . . . i.e. additions or enhancements to let's say the escort commands, possibly expanding the control window to include individual escort commands rather than only individual types of ships and maybe a formation dialog box offering different escort formations based on those set up automatically by nova, the number of escorts in a player's fleet, and the size of the escorts including "The ship's length in meters. Currently unused in any calculations". Ha, ha. anyway just curious. i've been thinking about a few things that might enhance a project someone is currently working on. this would seem to be fairly light in effect though it would possibly add to the combat in Nova. but as an actual undertaking . . . i do not know. thanks for the the replies everyone

None of the above will ever be added to EV:N.

(edit) it just occurred to me that the engine could set all the pers bits to 1 by default upon making the pilot. I don't know if the engine would gracefully deal with that situation, however.(/edit)

Wait, spobs created by plugins used after starting a new pilot dont have a defence fleet?!
These both things really really suck. *cries, cause it means that theres no point to a plug that makes new spobs, and a developer cant put any pers's in, cause nobody is gonna make a new pilot just for one stupid plug unless it's a TC.*Wonders what other things nova does to kick plugdev'ers in the pants

This post is based on one assumption: That spöbs regenerate their defense fleets, no matter how slowly.
If they even regen one ship per decade, then this can work.

Set the plug with the new spöbs to have a mďsn that is in the BBS and auto-aborts. Have the mďsn advance the time by whatever number of days required for the spöbs defense fleet to regenerate.

      That is all

The developers have stated that they have no intention of releasing the source code for any of the EV games in forseable future, and Matt Burch has mad clear that no new engine features will be added to Nova. Also, it is highly unlikely that there will be a 4th EV game, at least anytime soon so I think we can safely assume the features you suggested will never be implemented in a game of the EV series.

Question: Can this method be used to restore pers's? Or is the bit that represents an alive/dead pers different from the one for an active/inactive pers? I have heard that dead pers's come back no matter how many times you kill them.
