I am talking about the Weap resource. Hmm, i dont know much about flags and ev bible doesnt help much, other than give me the numbers. It has a lot of flags. If i wanted to use 2 or more of them together what would i do. And why is it that when your making weaps it is $0100 insted of 0x0100? Anyway, i need to know how to use 2 or more flags at the same time. (If possible) Thanx

First, if you use NovaTools along with ResEdit, you get checkboxes instead of hex numbers.

I am using NovaTools but for some reason it cant pull up weap resources. Or ships, syst, and spob. I am now using a template i found but im still using NovaTools. However the checkboxes dont show up. Any more help?

Sounds like NovaTools isn't installed correctly.

I've heard others report similar problems, but have never had any trouble with it myself. The memory alloacted to ResEdit doesn't seem to be the root cause. The only other thing I can think of is that there is some issue that can occur when installing the NovaTools resources into the Prefs file. Try reinstalling it to see if the problem clears up.

Ive already done that a couple times with both resedit and novatools... :frown: So i dont know what else i could do. How did the other people with similar problems fix theirs? Or do you not know...

It is indeed quite possible. Flags in Nova (and EV and EVO, for that matter) are merely hexadecimal digits, and getting multiple flags is as simple as adding them together.

For example:

Flag 0102 and 0004 are to be added. To do this, you add the 0102 and 0004 together, making the flag field read $0106. If you want to add another number, say 0208, it would read $030E. Below is a quick chart of Hex to Decimal values.

1-9 = 1-9
10 = A
11 = B
12 = C
13 = D
14 = E
15 = F

The digits in the flag field will NEVER add up to be greater than 15.
