I made a sit on an emulated macintosh of a plugin i made (available from (url="http://"http://www.aznt.com/EVN/")www.aznt.com/EVN/(/url) ).
I took that sit and decompressed it on a PC and the converter made the .rez and everything. Plug worked great.
Then i took the origional .sit that produced the working file for pc and uploaded it to the server it is on now.
A mac user downloaded it, and it decompressed on his computer to a .rsrc file (when i move that .sit to pc and back to emu. mac, the file decompresses as resedit document, dont know wheather there is a .rsrc on the end of the file on my system that the system is hiding from me, and dont know how to check).
The mac user who downloaded it says it does not work when placed into the plugins folder (but causes no problems either, just doesnt do anything). He is using 1.0.6.

Does anyone know what this problem is?

If anyone has any serious advice on this topic, i could really use it, because my first plugin appears to not function for the majority of EVN players. I am not happy with this state of affairs, for obvious reasons.

By the look of the file, you haven't set type or creator codes on the plugin, so Mac EVN doesn't recognise it... the PC file is probably fine as type codes are irrelevant in Windows.

You need to use a tool such as FileBuddy to set these codes. The File Type needs to be Npďf (Nova Plug In File) and the Creator needs to be Növä.

No, i am afraid I cant spend $2000 on a computer i will use just to develop plugins. That is all i would use it for - I like my pc plenty fine for everything else.

In general, I think it would be a GOOD IDEA not to deride pc plugin makers who want to be compatable with mac-evn, or they might just not bother (and since the PC market is so much larger, pc users will likely soon outnumber mac users of EVN). Lets work to be friendly to users of the other platform. Nobody wants a split in the EVN community.

And back on topic:
AAAh! type and creator codes! I had heard mention of those somewhere. pokes around and thinks he sees how to change them
