    • Does anyone know a way to make gif animations, pict sequences and so into ev nova sprite resources? I have quite an experience as a flash animator and could make exellent effects.

    • You dont use flash. You spin the model 1 degree (or 10) then save the complete spin. Get Pics To Sprites from the nova addons page and open the file with the spun ship. It will make Rled and Rle8s for the ship. Lather rice repeat with the weapon glow, engine glow, sheild and lights.

    • If what you're trying to do is animate effects (like explosions) in flash, and then have them run inside the game, it's not too difficult. Just settle on a sprite size (use dimensions in multiples of eight) and export each frame. In photoshop or your pixel-pusher of choice, arrange them in a grid like so:

      1 2 3 4 5 6
      7 8 9 ...

      You should also create a mask, so that EV knows which regions to make opaque.

      Paste them into your plug-in as PICT resources. Then create a spďn resource to point to their ID numbers, and tell it the dimensions of the grid you chose. 6x6 is traditional but by no means mandatory.

      As you become more experienced, you can achieve greater compression ratios by using rlë8 and rlëD resources in place of PICTs, and more detailed effects for space ships by using shäns instead of spďns. However, the instructions above should be sufficient to get you started.
