    • cool ideas - make a plugins please


      I thought it would be good to have the ability to order items at the outfitters, without ruining the surprise to newbies by making it so that you have to know the specific name of what you are ordering, and the seller can say something like it will day a few days or hours come back later and make it so that you have to visit the planets shop now and then to see if your order came in, that would make the game more realistic and sure save you the pain of havnig to specific places to get what you want. You could also make it so certain places would decline your request for whatever reason or say they can't get that for you for legal reasons hah.

      I thought it would be good to have a wormhole sensor, no mass please, and for people with one ton of mass to spare something a few millions credits worth, like some rare shield booster, armor, fission reactor, fixed gun with an auto-targeting swiveling head (as opposed to turret so that cambrians and sprites can use something that auto targets besides the short range ionic cannon) which brings me to also hope someone makes a plug in for a long range ionic cannon.

      Also hoping for a smart short range perimeter devensive beam that targets anything firing at you and autmatically rotates to the next ship firing at you so that you aren't having to try and click on every little ship that is next to you,

      Next would someone make a omnidirection weapon, something that sends out an wave of energy in all directions repelling any ships right next to you (to ward of pesky ships of viper size temporarily).

      Put some weird asteriods in the game that show up now and then or that stay stationary and are far away like workholes that you can land on for temporary safety, make some descriptionless, like the description could say you have landed on an uncharted moon or whatever, that way you arn't stuck with one place to land and having to make an aggrevatingly long loop to loose fast ships.

      Shadow effects from stars in other systems would be cool.

      Showing visual changes to various ships when adding an outfit, it would neat to sea guns moving back and forth when fired.

      Having your ships acceleration and movement affected by firing massively powerful energy weapons, anyone want to make some new weapons?

      Making Cambrian / Sprite specifc technology, and the outfits available at polarin places.

      A weapon that fires a smart missile and energy ball attracting device and that lasts for a while instead of getting immediately destroyed, to get ir radar and those purple missiles off your tail for a while.

      A device that temporarily makes cloaked ships visual in immediate range, like I suppose it could spread some sort of radiation in all directions which would cover any cloaked ships making them visible to the eye and the sensors.

      A sensor jammer, making it so your ship is invisible to other ships sensors as opposed to a cloaking device.

      An armour that specifically deflects Vello-os rays totally or somewhat.

      An anti-gravity engine which allows your ship to have zero newtonian effects, for example being able to travel and come to a full stop, it could take up hmmm, 1-2 tons, maybe make two types of different masses and prices therefore.

      A phasing device allowing missiles to go right through you.

      A phasing cloak... (sound familiar)

      Dual targeting long range lasers allowing you of course to target two ships as opposed to one and hold down ctrl to get it to work that way.

      A temporary hyper shield that works for 2 seconds before totally draining your shield charge.

      A battery specifically for shields.

      A super batter allowing 5 extra jumps or more shield power.

      A buggy one ton cloaking device. If anyone makes a cloak please make it so you can see your ship while cloaked, even if it is kinda transparent or has some ultra-voilet-like glow.

      Something to change the difficulty levels, so that ships behave less agressively (and not overly as I think they do) and as opposed to aur's flitting around you constantly like flies but rather just trailing from a distance, and also so that they show up less quickly as opposed to instantly whenever they are looking for a fight.

      Having the keyboard controls on the console as opposed to just the keyboard and the ability to place the console vertically on the bottom, AND the sensor showing up as a 3D green grid standing up as if it were holographic (it is) with the little dots on it, I got the idea from a buggy game called Deep Space by Psygnosis, it was made for the Amiga, awsome game awsome graphics, it was real 3D, hard to believe it was made so long ago now that I think about it.

      The ability to tractor escape pods and drop the prisoners off at prisons or various places for some credits.

      And last, the ability for certain yet to be made ships that can land on all the hostile environment planets.

      I hope all these ideas make up for anyone I made mad who saw my first partially errant post :

      Possible through missions. Quite hard, if you want to do that for all outfits.

      You have a key to select the nearest hostile target.

      hardly doable. Require a complete rework of the graphics of each ships. And it won't be what you want. Surely.

      Hardly doable. It would require an enormous amount of ships graphics.
      In fact, impossible with the current Nova scenario. It could work in a very strict storyline.

      But being cloaked from detectors only could be done with a really maxed out jammer.

      Hardly doable. Would need several set of ships and outfits. Surel impossible with the current Nov scenario.

      The plugins can be converted from Mac to PC using the converter included in the EV Nova directory.

      When i say that something is undoable, i mean undoable with a plugin. And 'cause you can't add any features to Nova, they will never appear.

      And finally, reading my answer in your topic at ev-nova .net would have given you answers for several questions.

      I have a prototype point defense beam turret I'm making. Of course, it doesn't target ships larger than fighters... I may need to tone it down though, as it pretty much makes you immune to missiles in it's current incarnation.

      There's a recoil field you can set for weapons.

      Yeah, you might be able to use a ship bay for this, and just make the sprites something small like the escape pod or something. On a side note, does giving a jammer outfit negative values make it more likely to get hit by guided weapons?

      And i understood it as allowing the player to switch between energy or shield in flight.
      How could you do that ?

      1. = Point-Defense Laser. There are some PD Weapons in the game but no laser. I made one in the PlugPackV15 (I also made a Raven Rocket PD... nice to see missiles destroying each other).

      2. = You will find such a weapon in the PlugPackV15. It`s called Plasma Thrower. If you buy a ten of them they are very effective because each one fires a one energy wave.. simultaneously.

      3. = Some ships in EVN have such an engine but there is no outfit for it I think. The PlugPackV15 got an outfit wich allow you to do this: Inertial Damper.

      4. = In the PlugPackV15... again 😉 It`s called Multi Beam and will shoot and different targets at the same time. Only drawback: YOU have to toggle your targets fast while firing...

      5. = There are a lot of cloaking devices in the game but all need to get in a storyline. In the PlugPackV15 there is a cloaking device wich can be bought by anyone without being with one of the great governments. Unfortunately you can`t change the color you have if you are cloaked.

      A great ad for my plug-in, eh? 🙂

      Its also very possible trough cröns and outfits where one outfit would serve the purpose of a ticket, that can be used to "collect" your outfit. But the 512 crön is the problem here.
