    • Desc Window/Display


      I posted it on the General EV webboard and they told me to come here instead so here it goes.

      Right now me and some friends are developing an EV plugin, but we have found that the Desc Window/Display for Missions is to small, as we have a large discriptions, and lots of dialogue. Basically is there a way to increase the size of the window, or make it scrollable?

    • Edit the DITLs in Escape Velocity (the application, not any of the data files).
      This requires ResEdit. Copy the DITLs you want to edit into your plug-in and edit them there.

      1006, 1016 and I believe 3003 are the mission dialog windows.

      Edit: Oh, yeah, you wanted mission dialogs...

      As far as I could tell most windows were hard-coded to where they started (editing didn't seem to make a difference.) So you have to experiement with how big you can make it before things get pushed off the screen. (This was in EVO...EVC might be different).

    • Just a suggestion: try to cut your text between different points of the mission (before accepting or force-accepting, after accepting, at pick-up or drop, and at the end). If you are good you could even consider implementing "fake" auto-abort missions to show more text, etc... There are plenty of workarounds possible. But you could also consider making decriptions a bit shorter to fit, just as reporters do when writing an article.
