Well, I'm a bit new to merit a post here, but if I go ahead now it'll be here when I'm old enough to be worth one.
My name's Kate (in real life, as well as here), and I'll be a junior in high school on August 19th. I'm a Latin geek as well as a computer one, and most of my during-school life revolves around running my school's chapter of the (url="http://"http://www.njcl.org")National Junior Classical League(/url). Umm.. I'm trilingual if you count Latin... Anyway, Escape Velocity was my first computer game when we upgraded from a dinky late-80s Mac to a G3 when I was in 5th grade, and I was immediately obsessed (it didn't help, of course, that we were studying trading triangles in Social Studies at the time..). I was never a part of the Ambrosia community at that point, though, mostly because I was still in the "What's email?" stage of internet use, as we first got a connection at that time, too. I played EV:O a little, using a cheat patch from a Mac Addict CD, and so naturally lost interest in it fairly quickly. However, in May I survived 7 torturous hours of downloading on a dial-up connection and got EV:Nova. I registered two days later. (Which is saying something.. the only other shareware games I've ever registered were two RPG's by Spiderweb Software, Avernum and Avernum 3... and it took me a month each to decide to pay for those.)
As for my developing background, well, there isn't much of one, unfortunately. I've tried repeatedly to learn to program, but due to my tendency to bounce from hobby to hobby like a psycho treefrog, I never got much farther than if..then loops in C. I played around with Coldstone for a little while last fall (I was Galadriel on that board.. of course, I lost the password and so did not resurrect my sn. Didn't post anything worth reading besides questions anyway..), but never got the hang of it, besides having a desire to program my own engine if I ever start to work on my rpg (sarcastic laughter Hahahaha! Work on my rpg!! Hahahaha!), which has been in planning for a year and a half now, and has an extremely involved storyline.. sigh.. I'm currently working on my first real (as in, not just used in testing various things and released to public) plugin, the ISLN (Inter-Stellar Library Network). I'd give you a link, but the website isn't yet functional. I need someone to help me with graphics :frown:
Well, there's my bio for when I've been around long enough to deserve one
