Yeah, I guess what I've said so far is just the bare minimum... Alright, at the beginning of the game you're a shuttle pilot for the government of the planet Tichel, which has recently achieved space travel and is building a space station in orbit. The Tichelopians have completed an experimental Jump Drive (an engine of sorts that has the capability of pulling a ship out of normal space into "Jump Space", where time runs slower, and gives it the capability of traveling across light-years in a matter of days), and outfit a scout with it. you take the scout and look around the surrounding systems (all that you can get to at the time), then come back - only to discover that a massive invasion fleet has been discovered only a few days from Tichel! The Tichelopians reverse-engineer some nuclear weapons from a captured Gurn (the invaders) ship, load everybody into transports, and take them to the planet of Shadar Haydan (one of the planets you discovered earlier), which they then nuke into oblivion and terraform. It goes on from there.
Races/Homeworlds:
The Freepeople's Alliance:
Tichelopians/Tichel (later Tichelopia or Shadar Haydan)
Havulaariums/Havula
Oolans/Oolanation
The Gurnopian Empire:
NebuGurns (later Gurnopians)/Nebu (later Gurnopia or Tichel)
Nebulaars/Nebu
Third Parties:
Terrans/Earth (or Terra)
Vorkons/Vork
Vish'Nu/Fish
Bladarians/Bladaria
Skraddnalanians/Skradd
Though the main players throughout most of the story are the Tichelopians and Gurnopians.
The plugin will be divided into five modules, each encompassing a certain time frame and series of events. The first will be the storyline I explained above, the second is when the Gurnopians attack Tichelopia (the twenty-year war) and some of the events centered around that, etc. It is about eighty years from start to finish, I think, and it's not really open-ended at all - more of a Final Fantasy type thing where you do this, then have to go here and do that. Also since you're working directly for the government you don't get as much exposure to civilian aspects such as trading and suchlike, although they certainly do play a part - you can take side missions to earn money to upgrade your ships and weapons from the basic models the government supplies you with, etc.
I hope to have the first module out by christmas, though it's iffy - college and suchlike starting up soon.
(edit)Also, there's a bit of info on my web site, though all the picture links are broken for some reason. There's a bit more stuff in (url="http://"http://www.fascinate.us/monthshots")www.fascinate.us/monthshots(/url). (/edit)
