    • EVC to EVN hints


      so I'm trying to convert a plugin from Escape Velocity to EVN and I wanted to know a list of things that need to be changed and added to make it work, it seems all the scan masks in the missions need to be reset and governments allies and enemies need to be filled out again but what other things?

      I was also wondering if there any faster ways to do it then by hand.

      Yup, (url="http://"http://www.ariossoftware.com/products/evone/")EVONE(/url) can convert a large portion of it for you. It can also handle Evo plugs. It does most of the porting for you but you'll need to do a few things by hand , but I believe that is explained.

    • Yup, just like Entarus said- Port Authority in EVONE is the way to go for this. I think the biggest thing you have to watch for are decoy-flare type outfits/weapons. Since this is unsupported in Nova, you'll have to rework these outfits.

      Just a small note : Its not Port Authority(PA is the unreleased official application) that is in EVONE , its not an official application , the program in EVONE is actually called SpacePort and has been made by SpacePirate so kudo's to him for it. 🙂

    • Heh. Thanks Entarus. Rzrwd, after you convet the plugin using EVONE, SpacePort will output a log that will tell you exactly what you need to do, such as what flags you need to check, and it also details exactly what you will have to do for scan masks. It is case specific, so it will list all the things you need to do by hand, which are not too time consuming. On a G3 300mHz, I converted all of Frozen Heart (for personal use, mind you... ;)) in less than 10 minutes.

      Currently, if you have an unregistered version of EVONE, it will slow the game speed to 75 per cent of the original. This will be removed in the next update of EVONE, which shouldn't be too long in coming. For now, I'm working on a speed modifier, so that you will be able to change the speed to whatever you think fits it best. This will reuse a lot of SpacePorts code, so it shouldn't take too long. 😉

    • Wow, SpacePirate that sounds like it will be really helpful.
      Sorry it took me so long to reply to this as I've been out all afternoon and early evening.
      The game speed bug sounds like it could be a problem but I can tweak it back still right?

    • Oh, it wasn't a bug, but we decided it would be better without the restriction.

      I could write an app that will allow you to readjust the speed of the plugin, that should hold you over. 🙂

      I see, how did you the in game speed to lower anyway?

      that would be nice, and I'd appreciate it but its not necessery ig you don't want to.
