    • ResEdit Error Code -39 (Unexpected end of file)

This occurs whenever I try to copy more than one Rlëd resource onto my plug. Not just when I try to copy multiple at once, but whenever I try to copy one and have already copied a different Rlëd since opening the file. What is going on here?

    • Try increasing the amount of memory allocated to ResEdit. I have mine set to 32MB. I just tried doing multiple rleD copies of weapon sprites, spob sprites, and ships sprites in singles, pairs, and gobs of multiples and encountered no trouble at all.

    • Sounds to me like you've reached the maximum size the file will allow. You may need to make a separate "Graphics" plug for just your graphics resources.

Ayup. If your file is over 14.someobscurenumber megabytes than you won't be able to copy/paste things or indeed do anything without it giving you that error.

Question: is this only ResEdit native, or do all resource files need to be under 15 megs?

Come and see; I swear by now I'm playing time against my troubles
      I'm coming slow but speeding

The play on time is won

    • Thanks for the assistance, Arturo. Thanks for the solution, Uncle Twitchy and Mantaray!

Mods, uLock (which, from your point of view, is an iLock request).

All resource files need to be under 15 megs. A poor restriction on Apple's part, sounds like some legacy technical limitation, but I do not know for sure.

Of course, resource files have been deprecated anyway, so I can't exactly complain about their limitations 🙂

And thats an understatement! Here's a quick example for non-programmers. I have just completed all the basic functionality (in Cocoa) for what may be my next app (the interface, everything is there, it just needs graphics and a few bug fixes). Total time spent: 2 Days

Total time spent on EVONE (Carbon C) to date: 18 months

Yes, the new app isnt completely done, but really, how many more days can it take to polish it up?
