Ahem, anyone out there who's willing to test my beta polaris extension plug? Email me. Its starting is exactly Unity, but I dont have a pilot to test. Any kind Polaris outta there? Stupid Unity killed Master Arando! How tragic! I changed that, added pick up Mu'Randa misn and other things! No dumb passengers, but Mu'Randa herself!

'RandaP.S. Check out desc id 32764. it contains my secret message. I'll post shots of it tommorow.

If you are doing what I think you are doing I must dissaprove. You can't just download someone's work make a few changes here and there and then release it as your own work ! You should AT THE VERY LEAST contact the orginal author of Unity before you use even 1 resource from his plug-in. Try creating something orginal.

I agree but if it is OK with the original creater, I will test it. Or are you asking for pilot files to test it yourself, I can't help you.

Then download and use GraphicConverter, or GIMP if you have OS X. Yes they will be flat ships, but that is what you make when you are just starting out. I did my first ship in KidPix for crying out loud. Whatever you do, you can't just steal someone elses work, its copyright infringement.

Yeah. I would be so pissed off if you took one off mine without asking.

Ask or go to a free shipyard. There's a couple around.

Or make your own, download mechanisto or strata3D and do the work yourself instead of taking other people's hard work and creativity and leeching it cause your too damn lazy to put in the effort yourself.

Ok, ok, but I only copied the misns out of Unity! I dont want to get lost in the ghost world of NCBs. I took the misns and merely just changed the descs.

And is there some reason why stealing misns is better than graphics? Do our previous points not apply? Maybe you need to read up on something called "fair use" and move back to the other side of the line from which you are currently standing.

Ok, ok, but I started putting my own work in as well... but... I just mixed my own work with Unity pulg, now I cant find my own work from the Unity parts!! HELP HELP!

That sucks. Start over. Without the author's permission you have no right to use any of their work. It violates copywrite and intellectual property laws, as well as just being plain immoral and stealing. You should have considered this before you started. If this is just for your own use, fine. No one will care. But you can't release it to the public without the author's permission. For my plug Ronin, I created an entirely original storyline. But I used one ship sprite made by AAC. All it was was a redesigned Kestrel that was simply more visible when cloaked. Still, I asked his permission before I included it.

Ok, ok, I'll try my best to take out the parts... I'm not sure as how to completly take all the parts of Unity out... its already 824 Kb big...
Anyway, I can just feed on the ORIGINAL NOVA data files. Agree??

P.S. How do you think I got the Mac to display a plug version?

Ory'Hara, because i don't like this "necessity" of changing Unity, i'm willing to give you a full list of all used resources in Nova 1.0.6.
It's not avalaible on ASW addon page (EVula hadn't updated it), but on my web site.

Ory'hara, I am going to try and keep a cool head while writing this. First know that I am positively furious over the fact that you are altering my work and then planning to release it as your own. While my Nova plugins are free for everyone to use, I have a huge problem with the fact that you were even planning to do this without my permission. Regardless of if it was actually released or not, I am still really pissed you did not consult me first. I am on vacation and this is the first time I have had access to this site for in over a week and I was extreemly upset to find this topic.

To me the argument that my e-mail address was not available is completely invalid. When you download the plugin, the description reads: "This plugin adds 12 additional missions to the end of the Polaris storyline. They deal with an ancient enemy of the Wraith and how Ory'hara truly unites Humanity. This is an updated version containing a bug fix and a new name. Features, new ships, weapons, systems, planets and much more. Enjoy. Part 1(second version) released 9/15/02. Created by MacDevil. Send questions and comments to AGS848@AOL.com."

I can't get the readme right now since I am on a PC and don't have time to download the plugin again to check if it is in there. However regardless, I am upset and insulted that you didn't feel the need to contact me before releasing an altered version of my work publicly. I'm sorry you didn't like how I wrote Unity, but that still does not give you the right to use my work with a few of your alterations. I really don't care if it took you a month, the original took me three months. In short, the fact that you were even planning to use my work without permission, gives me ample cause to distrust and dislike you. If anyone wishes to use my work as part of their's in the future, feel free to contact me, but I will not tolerate anyone using my work and claiming it is there own.

(edit) Please also know that I will be looking at your plugin when it is released, Ory'hara, and if I find anything from my plugin, I have it removed.(/edit)

Nice to see you found this topic, MacDevil. Unity is an excellent plugin and it would annoy me too if someone ripped it off in the shoddy way that Ory ' Hara seems to be trying.

Ory ' Hara, you have already gained scrutiny from the moderators because you have repeatedly created new accounts to get around karmaslaps. This does nothing to allay those suspicions, and if you release this plugin with even a trace of Unity in it then you will find yourself in a great pile of moderator-induced bother.

Obviously you have vers resources in the plug which you probably copied from Unity and then modified. Why am I pretty sure you copied them? Because they are not exactly resources you would add to a file without knowing what they did.

If, on the other hand, the question is rhetorical, then you are underestimating the members of these boards.
