    • Escape Pod

I was wondering if it is possable to fly the escape pod once your ship is destroyed and you have ejected the pod. i am unable to figure it out my self and am wondering if there may be a plug-in that utilizes it.

thank you if you can help me.

    • I believe you would have to make changes to the engine in order to fly the escape pod after ejecting, but there are plug-ins that allow you to purchase and fly pods as a standard ship. (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/Escape_Pod_Ship.sit?path=evn/plugins&file;=Escape_Pod_Ship.sit")Here(/url) is one such plug.

It is not possible in the stock Nova scenario but a clever plugin developer could implement something like this using escape ships.

    • In Polycon you can buy fighter bays and use the one of the fighters as an escape ship, which you can fly around as a normal ship, which is quite cool.

Yes. It works like that in the Nova scenario too, but not with the actual 'Escape Pod'.

Then couldn't you just make the escape pod into a 'real' ship, and then set it as an escape ship. You would need to make an escape pod bay though (I think). That should solve KarTaniK's problem. But why on earth anyone would want to fly around in an escape pod is beyond me...

You would have to do an escape pod bay.
Plus, an escape pod is just a small sphere with a smal thruster to push you out of the exploding ship. How could you control it ?
I think the most realistic thing could be an escape pod which can be hit by other ships. But you could be killed.

I don't have the code in front of me at the moment, but I seem to recall that no bay is needed for escape ships to work (but I may be wrong).

Meanwhile, this thread should probably move to the Developer webboard, so iMove...
