    • Ok ive got my pict now what?


      Ok i got the pict from EVula kindly put together ship yard and i have a resedit document and 3 otheres what do i do with them? plz help im desperate!

    • Wait, are you trying to make a ship?
      If so go to he addons page under guids or utilities and theres some ship making thing, try that.

      Now, what are you trying to do? What are these 3 others you're talking about? To add a ship to the game you have to create rle files, a shan resource, a ship resource, two shipyard picts and a desc. The RLE files can be created by making a shan using the sprite picts and dumping it into EnRLE. Do you have NovaTools installed in ResEdit? If not, grab a copy of it (url="http://"http://w00tware.ev-nova.net/")here(/url) and follow the instructions to install it.

    • Considering he originally posted his query on the EV board I'm guessing he's talking about making an EV plug.

      If you want to do something really quickly and simply, use EVedit (all these are avaidable on the EV addons page). It's buggy as hell, and will randomly destroy anything you create, but it's easy to use 😉

      A better alternative is downloading Mission Computer 2 (by David Arthur) and getting the annotated EVO bible (from the EVO addons page. It's designed for EVO, but you can use it for EV).

      Mission Computer has some non-template based resources (if you want to make a plugin without any editors, use resedit. It uses templates to create the various resources that are used in EV. You'll understand more clearly what I'm talking about when you look at Mission Computer), but the ship resource is still template based (basically like resedit).

      You'll also need Pontus' EV Formula Calc, which calculates which picts you'll need to assign for the ship you want to make (for example, ship resource 156 needs the comm, shipyard, icon and target pictures assigned to particular pict resources).

      Once you have all these, choose which rsrc your ship is going to be (make sure it doesn't conflict with existing ship resources unless you want to replace those ships), put that resource number into EV formula calc. Load up Mission Computer, paste the pictures you have into the various pict resources, create a new ship (using the resource you chose) and follow the instructions in the annotated evo bible and bingo!

      I also suck at explaining things, and it is really very simple once you get the hang of it.

      yeah thx Zax i didnt notice the little cube thing up the top so i didnt realise this was for all the EVs.

      Yeah, i am using Ev Edit and it is buggy as hell as i remember from previous ATTEMPTS at plug-in making 😛

      ok firstly, WTF? but before i start asking more i'll download that ev frormula calculator thing.

      The Ship that i got from the shipyard is somke kind of souped up kestrel i'm not sure if i actually want to use it but ill give it a go, whebn i D/L it it gives me 4 files the ship spin(resedit) the ship target, the ship comm, and the ship 3/4 what do i do with all of these? anyway ill go and d/l the things you said and then get back to you thx for ya help 🙂

    • OK, ive downloaded the pontus thingy but how do i use it it seems that it just wants me to type in all the things i dont know 😛

      It says in the read me that i just ned to put in the ship ID and the rest will be calculated for me am i missing something please help a poor newb who is in way over his head before even touching the water :s

      ok. Have you downloaded Mission Computer yet? Because that's the program you'll need for actually creating your ship. The ship ID which EV formula calc is asking for is basically the resource number for the ship. In mission computer, whenever you create a new ship you'll need to give it a resource number. Resource numbers start from 128 (which happens to be the id for the shuttlecraft. If you open EV data in mission computer you'll see that ship resource 128 has the shuttlecraft assigned to it). For now lets just say your ship is resource 156. Now open EV formula calc and enter 156. You'll then get a list of numbers. These numbers are the various resources you'll need to assign those picts of your kestrel to.

      I have to go now but I'll finish the post off in an hour or so (damn school :p)

    • ah, Ok so its called Mission computer, ill just go check ok i can't find it if you have teh time would you mind checking if its still tehre and maybe giving me the link. So if i open up form calc and put in 128 will it give me the resource thingamys for the shuttlecraft?

    • AH! i finaly see the light, so when i type in 156, and it spits back say for example Spin:156 that means that in my plug-in the spin needs to have a resource number of 156 and the same applies to all the rest of the numbers! plz tell me im right im D/Ling mission computer now and will probably post more later

      That's entirely correct.

      P.S. LOL! looks like im gonna repost sooner than i thought I have four Pict files that I downloaded from EVula's (note the spelling-im not a big fan of being hurt :p) shipyard. In mission computer not counting the spin file, there are six picts wehn i create a spin (i do do that under the Spin template thing right?) it knocks out the mask and the sprite so thawt leaves four and ive, only got three picts the Target the Comm and the 3/4 i put the target on the target one and the comm on the comm one but what do i do with the 3/4 do i put it on shipyard or thumbnail?

      P.S.S. Man i should really thinka bout these things before i post them, I thibk i just figured it out does the 3/4 mean that the pict is for slot 3 and 4 (shipyard pict and Thumbnail pict)??? I'll go and try that now

      All kidding aside, welcome to the boards marjock. Once you figure out the idea you will be able to pick and choose what applications work best for you in making a plug. All you really need is ResEdit and the EVO bible...but I swear by my Pontus utilities.

      I think that's right. Just remember to go into a graphics editing program and change the 3/4 pict to 32*32 pixels to get your thumbnail.

    • Thx experienced slight problems with Size and therefore Spin problems but thats all solved now 🙂

      Ill probaby end up consulting you on planet help but first Ill check the Various EV bibles i have at my disposal 😛
