I thought of how to get the big carriers as escorts and be able to have more than six. You make a plug-un that makes bays for all the ships, then say you wanted the polaris ravens as escorts. You buy the right bay, the raven, launch the ravens sell the bay, and you can have unlimited escorts in fighter form!!! If you didn't want this cheating to much, you boost the mass needed to get the bay (and the cost) and also the cost for the ships.
(or you could yell at me if its not possible)

This has been realized many times before, I believe. And I think the only problem is once you sell the bay, those who are outside of it arent really under direct order - If you tell them to attack, they won't run out and get the enemy - just stay behind you offensively.

note: this is just my memory speaking - becase I once had a similar scenario in a plug alpha.

You could make the bay 0 mass then make the ships for that bay cost money daily. then you wouldn't need to sell the bay, and it would be just like an escort that is hired.
